The US Gymnastics Team won just two medals at the World Championships in Jakarta this past week. It was the country’s lowest total in an international competition since 2001.
The only two Meladists are Leanne Wong, who won silver in the all-around, and Joscelyn Roberson, who won bronze in the all-around.
China finished ahead of the US women’s Now, while neutral athletes competed in Russia and won three.

US show Love ChellLel memmel referred to the group’s underperformance.
“It was difficult,” said Memmel, according to I-Olympik.com. “There were some very good pieces, but there were some difficult ones. I didn’t feel like their events and their skills in general were being attacked.

“We will talk about it, but not beat it to death,” Memmel continued. “They know what happened. They know they haven’t done their best, so they’re going to want to go in and go into training and reorganizing.”
The US used to dominate the women’s division in International Gymnastics. This was only the third year since 2006 that the US did not finish with the most women’s medals since 2006, from 2017 and 2021, when it was tied with Japan and Russia for the most.

This year, the team was undefeated with the goals of Simone, Suni Lee, Jade Carey and Jordan Cheles.
If this past week is any indication, it could paint a tightrope over the question of US women’s gymnastics heading to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
“For me, it means going into each turn with the intention that it’s going to be good, and trusting it,” explained Memmel. “Believing in that – believing in themselves – doing it and knowing that they can do it when the time comes raises its hand.”
