UAE tax compliance grows as FTA sees 651,000 corporate registrations and VAT refunds

The UAE tax system has reached a new stage of maturity, with the Federal tax Authority (FTA) reporting one of the highest tax compliance rates in the world and a rapid increase in registration numbers across all tax sectors.
At the end of September, registered companies exceeded 6511,000, showing the strong popularity of the UAE Londmark Tax framework introduced to support financial stability and competitiveness.
The authority also considered AED115.4m ($31.4m) in VAT refunds for newly built homes in August and September, highlighting improvements in efficiency in delivery.
UAE tax recovery
The results show the strength of the UAE’s stales platforms and the process and the success of the Ministry of Finance of Digital Transformation, led by the ruler of Sheikh Maktoum, said the Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, the Chairman of the UAE, and the Chairman of the IAAE, and the Chairman of the FTA Board.
FTA has revealed that the flexibility is in line with the Emaratax Digital Services platform, which now handles thousands of transactions daily with efficiency.
The delivery of Corporate tax funds and operations has been completed seamlessly, even during peak periods, which ensures the stability of the platform and the stability.
The Authority’s call center continues to provide fast, reliable support to taxpayers, while the Zero Digital Bureaucracy system simplifies the administrative process and cuts red tape across all service channels.
Record registration and refund calculations
Along with 651,000 tax registrants, FTA has certified 547,000 VAT registrants, 1,777 tax registrants, and registered tax agents nationwide.
A recent report also showed that VAT refunds for UAE residents on newly built homes totaled AED115.4m ($31.4m) between August and September.
These programs are being reviewed under the revised programs to improve efficiency and tax experience.
IE-in-in-inversing and changed by tax changes
The FTA Board approved its budget for 2026 and reviewed progress on the E-invoicing project, a joint initiative with the Ministry of Finance. The FTA has completed all legal and regulatory requirements, setting out the process of issuance.
In addition, the FTA Board approves the operating policies for the new method of calculating the excise duty on sugary drinks.
Tieretric’s volumetric model will link tax rates directly to each sugar content, which is part of a wider tax reform with health aspirations.
Awareness and voluntary compliance
The authority continues to implement nationwide awareness campaigns through digital and traditional channels to support accurate voluntary compliance.
These programs have become the norm to maintain some of the highest filing rates and subsequent payouts.
Sheikh Maktoum praised the progress found and directed the FTA to fund its modernization drive and efficiency indicators in line with international best practices.
