Trump Says Food Prices Are Falling, Cites Realer Improvement Across Country

President Trump on Sunday advanced the development of consumer prices and said that some retailers are offering more food than what they paid under the bidding process.

Speaking to reporters at Palm Beach International Airport before departing Air Force Base Andrews, Trump said prices are “already much lower than the last administration.”

“From an economic point of view, our prices are going down a lot for food and stuff,” Trump said.

The President added that his administration worked over the weekend to address price issues, suggesting that Americans may soon see more relief.

“We worked on it this weekend,” Trump said. “And you’re going to see some of the higher ones — they were lower than the last administration but a little higher — we’re going to get some small price cuts and, in some cases, some pretty good ones.”

The President also pointed to more Thanksgiving food as it is less expensive this year.

“Accessibility is much, much better with us,” Trump said. “Also, I go to Walmart and other companies and, in every case, almost, the Thanksgiving meal and the environment is down to the bidens.”

Earlier this month, Trump similarly praised Walmart’s discounted meatballs during a speech at the American Business Forum.

“Walmart just announced that the cost of their regular Thanksgiving meal … Is 25% lower than the end of last year. It’s not that big,” he said.

In October, Walmart announced that it is launching its annual Thanksgiving basket, which includes 20 items with national brands and information, including Butterball Turkey, and serves 10 people for less than $40.

This equates to about $4 per person, and can help ease the stress families face as food prices remain high.
