The UAE unveils a practical training platform to improve students’ readiness for the labor market

The UAE has launched a national training platform for higher education students, a new nationwide program designed to connect university students with practical training processes that work across the labor market.
Launched through the Nafis platform, the program strengthens collaboration between the Government, the clergy and the private sector, to support national efforts to equip Emirati talent with the necessary practical skills.
Developed jointly by the Ministry of Labor and Promotion (Mohre), the Ministry of Higher Education and Science Council, and the Emirati Talent Competing Council (Nafis), the platform enables students to register for training programs in an integrated digital environment.

It also allows government agencies, private research organizations and companies to post available opportunities, emphasizing their role as partners in the National Training Ecosystem.
In terms of services, the platform plays a major role in preparing the most suitable generations by promoting the integration of theoretical education with hands-on experience.
It also supports the UAE’s comprehensive and knowledge-driven development goals by enabling students to access advanced training in key fields.
Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, minister of human resources and promotion and minister of higher education and scientific research, said: “The effective national speaker of the national program was launched to deliver effective training methods for students of higher education.
“The launch is part of ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of the nation’s talent in the labor market, while strengthening collaboration between the government, the clergy, and private sector partners.
“This, in turn, allows developing an effective training environment, promoting lifelong learning, and strengthening digital transformation and smart services in all aspects of the labor market.
“Furthermore, launching the platform marks an important Leap forward for the nature of student training in the entire area of higher education. In addition to providing comprehensive training information.
“This, in fact, supports the efforts to establish in the private sector, which we consider as a key strategic partner in this national project.
“The platform takes a strategic step towards creating a higher education environment and creates an integrated training environment based on governance and specification.
“It also serves as a tool that brings all players on the same page, and empowers students to benefit from practical training opportunities that improve their future readiness.”
Work skills
Khalil Khoori, MOHRE under the labor market and Emiratisation activities, highlighted the importance of the platform in assessing students with skills suitable for the workplace in the area.
He pointed out that the new system strengthens their competitiveness and supports their commitment to combining roles among all partners at high levels, while ensuring that students meet the needs of all sectors of the economy.
Hannan Buti Al Mazrouei, Secretary General of the Emirati Talent Competing Lituty Competitiveness Councile (NAFIS), said that the platform fulfills the Council’s strategy for the future by providing meaningful training in line with the needs of the labor market.
He stressed that companies also benefit from having quick access to qualified Emirati professionals with practical and professional skills needed to support the UAE Business Ecosystem and ensure a sustainable pipeline.

Shamma al muhairi, non-assistant assistant for the higher education department in the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, explained that the platform creates opportunities for strategic cooperation between higher education institutions and economic sectors.
He said that all the training programs sent will receive under the quality standards defined in the resolution of the relevant ministers, to ensure an effective and complete experience.
The platform is available through nafis at afis.gov.ae, enabling institutions, training providers and students to register and participate.
Linking the platform with nafis helps to create a unified national database that improves access to relevant training opportunities and strengthens the role of higher education in increasing national skills in line with the goals of the UAE 2031 and the UE Centennial 2071 Plan and the UAE Centennial 2071 Plan.
A series of awareness and sensitization workshops have also been organized for universities, training institutes and students. These sessions aim to clarify the registration process and highlight the platform’s role in supporting students throughout their academic and professional development.
