The Trump Administration has backed Bayer’s Supreme Court bid

Bayeer CEO Bill Anderson joins ‘Claman’s Countdown’ to explain the growing details of the WeedKiller Legal Fight and what it means for consumers, farmers and American food security.
The Trump administration has urged the US Supreme Court to hear Bayer’s lawsuit aimed at encroaching on thousands of cancer laws over its weedkiller to round the foot.
Bayer CEO Anderson joined the “Claman Countdown” and said government support could make a difference in this case.
“This is a really important topic for consumers, for American consumers and, frankly, for food safety in America,” Anderson said Wednesday during an interview with Liz Claman.
Bayer, which is gaining momentum with its 2018 purchase of Monsanto, is the face of tens of thousands of lawsuits from people who claim WeedKiller caused their cancer. US and international health agencies dispute that claim.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer says glyphosate, a chemical in circulation, is “probably carcinogenic to humans.”
The US environmental protection agency has determined that the chemicals are “not likely to be carcinogenic to humans” when used as directed.
Bayer has already paid billions to settle circulation claims, and has thousands more pending. The company points out that because the EPA decides what goes on the pesticide label, individual states cannot require different warnings.

Bayer points out that it cannot be sued for leaving a cancer warning that the Federal Government never wanted, and the Trump administration agrees.
“Glyphosate has been tested and found to be safe by all the major food regulators, the safety regulator in the world,” said Anderson, who said it is not a political issue.

“When you have hundreds of scientists paid by taxpayer dollars deciding a product is safe, that has to count for something.”
Earlier this month, Solicitor General D. John Sauer of the Trump Administration asked the US Supreme Court to intervene in the case. Sauer agreed that the Federal pesticide law should overcome the failure of the state-to-wark level, a move that could limit, or shut down, thousands of claims seeking compensation in court.

Bayer said public support for the suspect was an important part of getting the Supreme Court to consider the case.
“The US government’s support is an important step and good news for American farmers, who need regulatory clarity,” Anderson wrote in a statement.

“The figures could not be higher than the inappropriateness of the Federal Law of Conception. The availability of new tools for farmers and the investment in the wider US economy.”
The Trump Administration’s support sent Bayer Stock to record highs, pushing its shares to their highest in years, according to Reuters.
