The success of the American race depends on winning the race for power first: Scholar

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin discusses how the EPA is putting behind-the-scenes principles from previous administrations to support the AI Boom on the ‘lite line.’
America’s ability to compete in the Artificial Tellifial Intelligence (AI) race may depend on computing power and more on the power required to support it.
“The AI race is definitely a power race, and one of the things we’ve said is that in order to win the AI race, you have to win the power race,” Nathan Lord, President of the non-profit organization Shale Crescent USA, told FOX Business. “But the only way you’re going to win the energy race is if you prioritize reliable fuel supply.”
Electricity demand from data centers could account for half of all new US energy consumption between now and 2030, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).
Natural gas is expected to meet 60% of the growth in energy demand driven by AI and data centers, Goldman Sachs reported in April.

“Natural gas is the only fuel that can be shipped fast enough, deployed large enough and still affordable to be a viable option for data centers,” King said.
For years, data centers have often been built around fiber hubs, but King believes that needs to change.
“We spent years in the building where the fiber was and not where the power was, and that presented a lot of issues,” he said. “… NEXT to the most powerful data centers is the safest, most reliable place to be located at the peak of natural gas, not to build 500 kilometers where there is no power.”
About 80% of America’s natural gas supply comes from the Texas Gulf Coast and the Shale Crescent Region — which includes Ohio, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania — where Shale CresCent Usa is working to support high-wage production, according to King.

“The Shale Crescent region is uniquely equipped to be the solution to future data center demand,” he said.
Chevron is among the companies positioning itself for this change.
The company was announced earlier this year to work with Engine No. 1 and Chevron USA Inc. to create a new business focused on developing energy solutions for Natural-Gas-Power-Power Center data centers.

Meanwhile, China has dramatically expanded its energy output. The country now produces more than 2.5 times more energy than the US, although it passed America 15 years ago, King said.
