As South Park continues to barrel forward with its week’s politically charged newsletters, a new sense of balance has already emerged with the latest episode of the season, “sorry not sorry.” Feeling like the much-needed return in building the series has been overdue for a few weeks, the boys are finally back in town, and so is one of the best characters of the show: While the prominent stories involving Donald Trump, Jd Vance, Satan, and Peter Thiyeli are preparing for the big finale in the coming weeks, now they are quietly going in the background as new conflicts and ARCs get the Spotlight.

We can get the neat fix you deserve
It sounds like Parker and Stone were hearing their fans out loud. This episode puts the boys and Sergeant Yates Front and Center, bringing South Park back to the small power, small towns that defined its golden age. One of my biggest criticisms of seasons 27 and 28 was that the Trump sportline was one-note. Now that the boys have been pulled back into the more powerful fold, their unique story of abusing the AI lady to mislead the whole episode is shrinking all season together. The comments of the manipulation of the media work on both Fronts, and it is clear that all this will have to be dealt with by the time we reach the stage of the Finale.
With the suddenness of the south park suddenly it feels like it is firing on all cylinders again, and in a way that shows how Parker and the stones can put many Parkers without making their minds up. They have yet to squeeze in a big serialized ending, which still throws me off. However, a new sora 2 angle involving the boys and yates sets up this episode with what looks like the first chapter of a three-part ending.
If they continue to balance both stories the way they did in this episode, I have no doubt that season 28 will end stronger than I expected. Loose ends tighten, and thanks to the boys, everything finally starts to make sense.
