The Fed’s housing chief supports Trump’s move to prevent investors from buying single-family homes

Federal Housing Finance Agency Director William J. Pulte discusses efforts to make homeownership affordable for young Americans by ‘Making Money.’
President “Builder-in-chief” Donald Trump is bringing the housing market back to life, Director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency in the US Bill Pulte told “Making Money” on Thursday.
Trump announced Wednesday that he plans to bar institutional investors from buying single-family homes.
“I’m very hopeful that we can revive the housing market, but it’s dead after what Joe Biden did,” Pulte told FOX Business anchor Cheryl Casone.

“It’s time for companies to stop owning these houses, and for people to start owning these houses and living in them as nature intended,” said Pulte.
Trump took aim at Wall Street landlords, urging Congress to take to social media to enact an anti-Wall Street housing policy.
“People live in houses, not companies,” Trump wrote.
Applauding the move, Pulte said companies stealing homes from the hands of Americans have gone on “for far too long.”
The director said that companies have been setting prices for everyday citizens for the sake of achieving the American dream.
“See [corporations] they’re actually buying homes for 20% to 30% less, in some cases, than the average American,” the real estate executive explained.

“We’re not going to have this, where companies are getting deals on housing. Right now, people can’t even get a place to live. . . . It’s just crazy,” he added.
Pulte said Trump is making an “all-out” effort to get Americans home again – an American dream he says former President Joe Biden destroyed.
“Biden is doing a lot of damage not only to the economy, but also to the housing market,” he said.
“The administration’s goal is to get the American dream back on track after four years of Joe Biden destroying the housing market,” Pulte said.
Stopping corporations from buying homes has long been a top priority for the Democratic Alliance.
Pulte said that although senior Democrats like Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., and Biden talking about this issue, failed to act.
“[Trump] they finally have the ability to do something that, frankly, the Democrats don’t have the ability to do,” he said.

The director also highlighted the advantage of having a commander in chief who is a trade expert.
“[Trump] he understands the housing market,” Pulte explained. “He understands the importance of keeping home prices high, but at the same time making it so that people can finally afford to buy a home again.”
