The AWS outage is crashing smart beds around the world, leaving Sreers programmers either a very hot or a very cold path.

In the early hours of Tuesday, Oct. 21, AWS is down. You’d think that would just mean we couldn’t shop on Amazon or check in at midnight, but this is very wrong, as we all know. The release of AWS took down what felt like part of the Internet. WhatsApp, Snapchat, venmo, slack, banks, airlines, shipping networks, and similar trading platforms are all going offline around the world.

Some people are affected by the AWS outage to the point of losing sleep. Yes, the eight-bedroom premium plan only works with a WiFi connection, and the brand uses Amazon’s cloud network to make that happen. When the AWS crashed, the eight sleeper pods lost communication with their mother.

I’m in the process of testing mashable’s eight pod 5 pod, the latest version of the eight sleeper pod. My full review isn’t out yet, but I was definitely one of the sad people who slept rough because of the exit. While the experience is much better than other nights I’ve had (like sleeping on the floor of an airport), it was a big night, and it was behind my bed back on the internet when AWS was behind and it took me hours.

Eight pods for sleeping (former wifi addict)

The Eight Sleep Pod is a complete smart bed with several components. First, there’s the eight sleep pod cover, which goes over your mattress like a fitted sheet. This cover contains small water channels that connect to the pod’s Hub, or brain of the bed. The Hub connects to the Eight Ped Pod app, and from there, users can set heating options, schedules, and wake-up alarms.

If users add eight blankets for the cover, the hub can also control it. A blanket actually works the same way as a cover. It houses small water stations that cool or heat the sleeper to their preferred settings. The Eight Sleep Pod also uses AI in an automatic mode that makes slight temperature changes throughout the night to help you sleep.

People pay a lot of money to equip their mattress with an eight sleep pod system. In the Queen-size, the current model, eight pods of pod 5 with a hub and a cover, sells for $ 3,348. Add a dress to this setup, and you’re close to $4,348. For those who want to improve the sleeping experience, sleep eight also sells a flexible base with good features such as a built-in speaker, vibration reduction capabilities, and shrinking. Add the base to the setup and it’s a good $6,398.

All eight sleep pods require a wifi connection to work, so when the aws crash, so does the sleep pod. The temperature regulation stopped working, the height and vibration functions work offline, the alarms died, and the application did not work without giving an error message after a few minutes.

Some sleepers are stuck in real cucumbers

My bedroom is cold by design. I love a cold room with a warm, cozy bed. I keep the cover of the eight pod pod and the blanket, keeping it inclined but not deep. I woke up sometime around 1 am PT on Oct. 21 in a cold bed. Since the water in the cover and blind was no longer warm, and my room was about 10 degrees Celsius, my bed was cold to the touch. The water was still comfortable or below the temperature in my room.

I put in the app to fix my cold, and while I was waiting for it to load (it wasn’t loading), I realized that I was completely asleep, not the usual sleeping position with my head and legs slightly raised on the base.

It took me maybe an hour to figure out that my bed was offline due to the aws going out. I found out by reinstalling X on my phone and finding the eighth account, which had sent out 38 of its followers. At that time, the exit information was not sent to Main’s account of Brand X, which is eight.

I put on pajamas and warm socks and add more clothes to my bed, and finally, my body heat seems to warm the wet rooms enough for me to sleep again.

Some users were not so lucky and took to the Internet to explain that they were too cold or swore because of the hot bed. Some say that their foundations are stuck in a high place. Since the app wouldn’t load, there was no way to make temperature or elevation changes. People also say they haven’t woken up in time since the alarm system in the eight-sleeper pod was offline.

The changes that come in the pod sleep eight

Eight sleepers have since accepted the bed’s reliance on wifi, and the aws aren’t great. Brand’s manager, Matteo Franceschetti, announced the backup mode on Oct. Oct 22 on his X account. This new function allows users to change the pod’s temperature and altitude even when the wifi is down or the cloud network is down. The features vary a little depending on the output users are fighting, but the main problem of uncontrollable heat can be solved with this upgrade. Eight sleeps means that the rollout is “slow,” and it doesn’t mean that all users will have this new Bluetooth support.

This upgrade is good news for eight sleeping pod users who have been left concerned about expensive pod performance during the upcoming outage. This is especially true as we head into the stormy winter weather, which can turn wifi routers down, unless you’re using a portable power station.

When all is said and done, we all gained a lot of knowledge this week. Now we know AWS is one powerful beast that can legitimately destroy your sleep.
