Sometimes we die of old age, sometimes we die too young and too young, but blowing the whistle makes your impending death catch you in a few days. Chrys (Dafne Keen) lives with her cousin, Rel (Sky Wang), and they start at Pellington High, where she meets Grace (Ali Skovbye), her jock boyfriend, Dean (Jhaliel Swaby), and Grace’s friend, Ellie (Sophie Nelisse), whom Chrys has a crush on. Hoping to pull herself together and forget her past, Chrys finds a note in her closet. After the joint arrest, someone blows a whistle, and those who hear its piercing cry immediately face death. Now, the survivors must find out if they can escape the deadly power of the whistle.
There is a strange art The call; it shouldn’t be as good as it is. The film is an unusual high school drama, laced with the bloodiest deaths of the year so far. Chrys, being a woman who loves others, feels like a continuation of the story, not a theory. He is gay and facing a world of problems. That’s the main draw, except for the Native American kazoo, who kills people for fun. A young drug dealer is not important, but horror films always find use for such characters.
Chrys’s situation was already difficult before his introduction: he recently suffered an overdose and the death of his father. Keen’s performance is withdrawn and hesitant, yet yearning for familiarity. Chrys and Ellie are the film’s main characters, which probably explains their appeal.

The film opens at a Pellington High basketball game. A player named Mason (Stephen Kalyn) is driven crazy by a burnt figure (I nicknamed him Crispy Carl) who is hiding in the buildings. Mason is confused during the game, but makes the game-winning shot. Not before the charred figure, smoking coals glowing all over his body, his lungs. Back in the locker room, Mason laments that it’s not his time yet and pulls a whistle out of his locker before smashing it on the floor. Later, thinking he had been cheated by death, the burnt man found him in the shower and lowered his burning arm down his throat. Mason’s teammates found him writhing as his toned body burned to the ground.
The Saddest, Happiest Death in Years

Some of them range from lung cancer to old age, but there are two people who die beyond belief. One involves drunk driving, and the other involves working in a sawmill, but what makes them different is that the causes are not obvious.
You see the effect and you know the cause, but since death happens so suddenly, it’s a horrible display that doesn’t make sense to anyone unfamiliar with the whistle. A drunk driving fatality sees the victim twist and turn while floating in the air, and it’s as gruesome and memorable as it sounds. The death of the chainsaw is an introduction as it sprays blood everywhere and leaves the victim in this crumpled, limbless ball.
