Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed hails the role of sports in shaping societies ahead of the World Sports Summit

“Dubai welcomes visitors and participants in the world sports conference, including world sports leaders, presidents of international organizations and associations, investors, decision-makers and athletes from all walks of life, who will come together for two days to discuss the current state and future of sports around the world and its role in developing societies and developing communities,” said Sheikh Hamdan.

Bringing the world together through sports

Introduction the toporganized by the Dubai Sports Council under the leadership of Sheikh Hamdan, will take place from 29 to 30 December in Madinat Jumeirah. Under the theme ‘Uniting the World through Sports’, the event will feature more than 70 speakers, including leaders, stars and international sports figures.

Sheikh Hamdan described the gathering as the first sports conference to come out of the UAE. “This conference will bring together sports leaders, experts and individuals with proven leadership and professional expertise from all the world’s sports sector. This conference will serve as a global forum for discussions on the development of sports and shaping its future through the use of effective strategic plans, rules and agreements,” he said.

The Crown Prince explained in detail the wishes of this conference. “Through the World Sports Summit, we aim to consolidate efforts and lay solid foundations to develop the role of sports in empowering communities, inspiring generations, and attracting and developing talent. We are committed to establishing pioneering programs and bringing the world together in Dubai to strengthen international cooperation and help shape the future,” he said.

Honoring sporting excellence around the world

The organization of the conference is in line with the objectives of the Dubai Sports Sector Strategic Plan 2033, especially in supporting the hosting of major international sporting events and strengthening Dubai’s position as a leading global sports destination.

The event will honor the winners of the 13th Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Sports Award, the largest in terms of prize value and number of categories. This award highlights the achievements of leading figures, officials and sports champions from the UAE, the Arab world and the rest of the world, as well as sports institutions that have achieved great success around the world.

Participants and guests have started arriving at the conference, including FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The committee organizes the events of December 28 to give visitors an opportunity to socialize and explore Dubai’s sports and tourism attractions before the start of two days of sessions. Activities include sports competitions, with padel prominent, along with recreational sports, family activities, safari tours and tours of Dubai’s resorts.

The first day of the conference will begin with a speech by His Excellency Khalfan Juma Belhoul, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, followed by Infantino’s address entitled ‘The Next 90 Minutes’.

Prominent sports personalities who participated included His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, King’s Representative for Humanitarian Affairs and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic, MMA world champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tunisian tennis champion Paul Pauls Janisia. Badosa, Nasser Al Khelaifi, President of Paris Saint-Germain, former Liverpool and England striker Peter Crouch, Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao, former boxer Oleksandr Usyk, Brazilian football legend Ronaldo Nazario, Italian football legend Paolo Maldini and many others.
