Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was reportedly involved in a home invasion, police are investigating

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Oklahoma City Thunder to a 127-108 rout of the Washington Wizards on Thursday night. But during Alexander’s 31-point performance, he was believed to have been targeted by thieves.

Police launched a burglary investigation Friday after property reportedly linked to Gilgeous-Alexander was broken into.

Thunderstorms are being reported to investigators in Nichols Hills, north of Oklahoma City. Authorities have not confirmed who lived in the home. It remains unclear whether the burglars stole any items from the home.

Officers were called to the home around 7:45 PM

Local news stations in Oklahoma City showed footage of police cars outside the home.

In a statement, the police confirmed that the suspects remain at large.

“The suspects fled the area before the police arrived,” the police said in a statement. “While no one has been arrested, there is no reason to believe that the public is in any danger.”

A break has been claimed by burglaries at the homes of professional athletes in the US in recent months.

Their committed athletes include Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, former teammate Travis Kelce and Cincinnati Bengals quarterback. BA Stars Luka Doncic, Bobby Portis and NHL Player Evgeni Malkin are also targeted.

Law enforcement authorities have previously warned sports thieves who have been hitting on game days when they know players won’t be home, often hitting back windows.

The NBA sent a memo to teams in November 2024 urging caution when it comes to home safety. Among its recommendations, the league suggests that the players: Install updated alarm systems with cameras and use them to protect the services of the locked area and to obtain secure services at home, and remove dogs to help protect the home.

The Thunder are 6-0 this season. They return to action Sunday against the New Orleans Pelicans.
