Seattle Socialist Katie Wilson is leading the Mayor’s race in new polling data

While the national media put the spread of Nopity City in social danger under its rising star, Zohran Mamdani, few have noticed that Seattle is preparing its ideological twin. What Mamdani did in Queens, progressive Katie Wilson is poised to replicate in the Pacific Northwest.

Wilson, an activist with little experience but deep roots in former Seattle circles, leads Mayor Bruce Harrell in the new poll. His rise reflects a re-reading of politics in New York: a movement empowered by minorities, visual firebrand activists who view professionalism as the root of all injustice and government as the cure.

It’s not just the Democrats. Socialist Mamdani’s programs should affect Republicans across the country

The most recent DHM Consall Poll shows Seattle voters are ready to move city hall to a more social and progressive place. Wilson leads Harrell, while left-leaning voters are favored to win both open council seats and the city attorney race — the city’s only downtown position. It is an echo of the Mamdani Coalition in New York, where the Socialists of America (DSA) seized power from the traditional Democrats who once defined the city’s establishment.

DSA, which backs Mamdani, has long been treated by Seattle as a second fortress. Its influence was rampant a decade ago when the Seattle city council turned “Tax the Amazons!” and “$15 now!” in the national motto. Mamdani took the same playbook: valify wealth, re-demand and sell it as “justice.” Wilson, too, proudly identifies with Mamdani’s brand of urban socialism. Like him, he wants to tax businesses and the wealthy to fund “social housing” – government-run apartment blocks run by the city.

Mamdani calls for public ownership of resources and proclaims that capitalism has failed. In Seattle, Wilson uses softer language but the same intent. He supports a $1 billion housing bond, and represents private property as a social problem rather than a personal right. It’s the same Utopian tone, which he recently channeled with Pacific Northwest Detenteness. But the results will be the same.

In New York, Mamdani’s wing has helped drive businesses out, build housing for the poor and increase social security. In Seattle, the ideological groundwork has already been laid. Businesses are reduced, Downtown is not targeted and public safety is always in jeopardy. Now Wilson’s solution to government is more government – more taxes, more mandates, more “compassionate” “targets” that treat criminals and addicts as victims of the system.

Wilson’s lack of senior experience alone compounds the risk. He has never run a department or overseen a meaningful budget, yet he is asking voters to entrust him with a $9 billion city government. She admitted to relying on her parents for childcare costs and “was able to move” into her one bedroom apartment – a relative struggle, but not a financial leader’s struggle.

New York’s Mamdani will prove what happens when activists become managers: ideas gain visipurction. Seattle will be next in line for you to follow.

Democrats like Zohran Mamdani say they welcome new people. They betrayed

Harrell, while not perfect, at least represents a balancing act. His criminal policies may bite, and his leadership may not save him, but he knows that this city cannot survive the attacks. Wilson, however, belongs to a movement that sees pragmatism as a betrayal. You are part of a generation of politicians who think failure means you haven’t moved far to the left.

Seattle’s Least Way Slide Mirror New York’s Trajectory under Mamdani’s influence. In both cities, the democratic establishment is losing control to a group that is having difficulty regaining control through activism. In both cities, unemployment-weary voters polled, leaving the field at the extremes. And in both cities, the results are the same: higher taxes, fewer businesses, and public safety in free fall.

Dhm’s poll shows how much Seattle has improved in the general mind. Wilson captured more than half of the vote in the August Primary. With low Voter Turnout in mind, it’s activists – not ordinary voters – who will decide the city’s fate. This is exactly how Mamdani and his allies seized control of New York politics. The few involved put their views on the many.

To be clear, Wilson is not being cruel. He is articulate, honest and willing to engage with critics. I spoke with him on my “Seattle Red” talk show, and I respect that openness. But sincerity cannot produce results. The New York State experiment has shown what happens when compassion becomes policy and ideology becomes law. Crime rises, middle class families move, and the only people left are those too rich to escape or too poor to survive outside the state.

If Wilson wins, Seattle will be a sign in the west and New York of Mamdani – a laboratory of Socialism conducted in the language of righteousness. A once-innovative town will be run by an activist who is still receiving financial aid from parents while proposing to manage billions in tax dollars.

This is not just about seattle or new york. It’s about the growing movement using big blue cities right now as a reason for democracy. When it fails – and it will – it won’t be a local problem. It will include Laterwark, who has worked with politicians in Washington, DC and in states across the country who see cities like Seattle and New York as test cases.

On November 4, Seattle voters will decide whether to follow New York down that path. The choice is not between left and right – it is between pragmatism and idealism, between reality and fiction.

Wilson’s lack of senior experience alone compounds the risk. He has never run a department or overseen a meaningful budget, yet he is asking voters to entrust him with a $9 billion city government.

If Wilson wins, it will mark not only a Seattle story but a national warning. America’s urban centers are increasingly becoming Socialist City-States – run by activists, funded by taxpayers, and justified by failure.

First in New York doesn’t stay there. And if Seattle follows suit, it won’t just lose its soul. It will send its errors across the country.
