Qatar Airways Nales Hamelad Ali Al-Khater as the group’s new CEO

Qatar Airways Group has appointed Mr. Hamelad Ali Al-Khater as Group Chief Executive Officer, effective December 7, 2025, marking a major leadership change for one of the world’s most decorated Airlines. Succeeding Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer.

The announcement was made in Doha and published by the Airline on Sunday, 7 December 2025.

Al-KheAter joins the National Carrier after working as an Operations Officer at Hamad International Airport, where operational safety and reliability, infrastructure development, infrastructure development and passenger experience improvement.

His hiring coincided with the airline’s rise as a major global hub and its recognition as one of the world’s best airlines.

Before joining Aviation, Al-Khater held senior positions at Qatarinergy. His work there includes business development, dealing with the execution and management of major strategic initiatives and functional organizations in the organization.

Qatar Airways enters this new chapter following a string of record successes. The airline was named the best airline in the world at the 1625 SkyTrax World Airline Awards and continues to hold titles including best business class in the world, best business lounge in the world and best airline in the Middle East.

The carrier now serves more than 170 destinations worldwide through its Doha hub at Hamad International Airport, which has been recognized as the Best Airport in the Middle East for 11 consecutive years. The airport has also received numerous global awards for passenger experience, retail and overall service levels.

Qatar Airways is also known for its industry-leading programs. It was the first airline in the Middle East to achieve the highest level of certification under the IATA environmental audit program and was the first airline to meet the airline’s policy of banning wild flights.

Al-Khater’s appointment is expected to guide the airline through its next phase of network expansion, digital transformation and robust growth.
