Paul Newman, Joanne Woodlard’s former apartment sold for $1.69m

Paul Newman and Joanne Woodlard Woodlard’s New York apartment is on the market for the first time in more than 40 years.
A two-bedroom, one-and-a-half-bedroom apartment – previously owned by a Hollywood couple – is listed for $1.69 million by Noble Black’s listing agent, Jenffrey Gageby of the Corcoran Group.
Originally built in 1925, the apartment was used by Newman and Woodward as an office and Guete Suite, as it was located on the ground floor below their main residence in the same building.
In addition to beautiful views of Central Park, the home features a 24-hour doorman, fitness center, bicycle room and other amenities.

Ron Howard’s departure
The couple shared a penhouse and a guest apartment on their property. The two bedroom and two bathroom penthouse above sold in July for $14 million. It was written to their children at the time, on behalf of Woodward, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2007.
Newman and Woodward first met in 1953 at a picnic, and tied the knot five years later in January 1958. They were married for 16 years before his death in September 2008.

While they are often praised as one of Hollywood’s most powerful couples, their daughters, Clea and Melissa, were told to approach the church in October 2022 that their parents’ marriage “became complicated.”
Melissa said: “There was a myth about my parents’ perfect marriage. There was a vibe of tension in the house that would come and go.”

Clea also recalled when the tension in the house grew, telling the outlet that when her parents often found themselves “arguing” when they fought hard, “
In his memoir, “Paul Newman: The ordinary life of an ordinary man,” which was published by the union in 2022, Newman described his relationship with wood, saying that the actor brought out the side of the one who was not there before.

Joanne said: “Joanne gave birth to a sexual creature,” Newman told People magazine. “We left a trail of lust everywhere. Hotels and public parks and HETTZ car rentals.”
Newman was married when they met in the woods in 1953, but their attraction soon took off, and they became involved.
The two got married that New Year and finalized his divorce from his first wife, Jackie Witte, with whom he shared three children. They then moved to their Beverly Hills home and later settled in their home in Westport, Connecticut.

“Joanne and I are still crazy in different ways,” she said. “But all medals, badges, difficulties have a kind of humility over the years.”
Newman died of lung cancer in September 2008 at the age of 83.
