OPPO’s Find X9 Pro has a visible telephoto lens and a large battery

Oppo’s latest phone, like the Sleek (but hard to buy) Get N5 Fold, goes hard on the tech definition. In fact, the X9 Pro’s specs are read as a wish list for many who want to see their phone, with a large 7 500Mah camera, 6.78 O bright bezels, and the addition of an optional lens that encourages zooming the camera to 10x.

The Find X9 Pro will be priced at £1,099 (about $1,459). The biggest possible return is that, despite getting the X9 series to be the biggest phone launch ever, it won’t be available in the US. Still, with everything packed into this phone, I had to give it a try. Do I really want a small smartphone? Or one that lasts for days before needing a refill? And man, this telephoto lens sure catches the eye.

Expression and design

Find X9 Pro has a 6.78-inch display, with a maximum brightness of 3,600 entries. On paper, it beats the iPhone 17 Pro, but most people with high-end phones more than a year or two old will see that the phones are blooming like the X9 Pro. Another notable feature is the low 1-nit brightness to reduce eye strain when using the phone in the dark. Or in bed. Which you shouldn’t do, but we all do. OPPO has also included a very high pixel density to reduce the weight of the screen.

Like the latest phones from its corporate cousin, OnePlus, OPPO has added a new button to this year’s model Get X Model. The Snap key is on the left side of the device, and can be customized to launch apps like voice recorder, translation apps and flashlight. Meanwhile, the right edge houses the X9’s quick button, which is the camera button. A double tap opens the camera app. While it’s not as specific as controlling the iPhone’s camera, you can swipe the button to zoom in and out while using the camera, which is a handy addition.

Mediatek’s new chip With a higher capacity than graphite-based batteries, this means longer battery life without making the phone bigger or bigger. At 7,000mah, the battery is huge. It is much bigger than the battery found in foldables like Samsung z fold 7 (4,400 MAH) and Pixel 9 Pro Fold (4,650 MAH). It’s much bigger than the OnePlus 13 (6,000). Fortunately, getting the X9 supports faster charging speeds, with support for 80W Supervialooc and wireless charging. During my time on the phone, it used to last two days per case. Even after a day of heavy camera use, Google Maps and video streaming, I didn’t need to recharge the Find X9 Pro until the second day.

The measures

Find X9 Pro’s camera contains a large Megapixel main sensor with F / 1.5 lens and Optical image stabilization. There is also a 50MP eltrawide camera and in contrast to the impressive part of the technology This also appeared with a lovely teleconverter lens – more on that later.

Hasselblad’s Falles collaboration focuses on Telephoto, although the company calls the entire camera setup the Hasselblad Master Camera setup. I’m not sure it needs such a label. To make the sensor even bigger, the camera app includes a new hi-reset mode to capture at 200mp for the phone’s lens and 50mp when using other camera sensors. The company cautions that the mode is best used in well-lit environments, as it cuts pixel art and other photography techniques used in low-light conditions.

But that’s not the point: it’s all about zooming. Telephoto has a base GEASE 3X Optical Zoom, which can be expanded to 6x zoom for a 50MP image. It’s worth noting that all the cameras that get the X9 can take up to 50MP. When the phone experiences more challenging shooting conditions, it automatically drops to a 25MP or 12MP shooter. In fact, I didn’t see the decision to jump in most of the photos I took, although the rich foliage of some of my world bodies shows what the camera system is capable of capturing.

OPPO says that its computational images can zoom here to 13.2x, but its algorithms can get a little violent and dirty with faces and details at higher Digital zoom settings. Check out these photos taken from the hill. While the foliage appears steep and detailed, the pedestrians are mysterious and have a halo effect around them. Sometimes, the computational images turned out to be pedestrians in the dark.

In yet another way to talk about the Hasselblad Col, there is also an XPAN shooting mode for Cinematic 65:24 Photos. On the other hand, if you’re into the aesthetic of a lost camera, the Thola X9 Series can also cause double-takes in mimic ’00s photos.

Similar zoom capabilities are available for video capture, too, and the company added a new audio focus mode to capture existing audio, which worked better than I expected. There are many ways to record multiple videos, including full log recording (enabled in settings) and integrated preview to check color grading in real time.

Then there are the lenses that are unmatched. Oppo’s Hasselblad Teleconverter is a solid, premium peripheral, with a metal barrel and some heft. Extends the available Optical Zoom to 10x, with an equivalent length of 230mm. Thanks to the high-reso high-repholip camera sensor, you can zoom up to 200x digital TOSS and 50x zoom for video, although the sweet spot is more in between. The teleconverter lens, while not entirely new (vivo did it first), can be a very interesting part.

You need to use a specific case and matching plate to securely attach the lens to the phone, but when it’s locked in, it feels solid and very secure. It looks and, well, how it looks. Because it’s such a soft lens, it looks like something you could use for espionage. It doesn’t look like a point and shoot camera. It’s … Eye-catching, but also very fun.

I’ve been testing the camera chops of the Find X9 for a few weeks, and it’s been a lot of fun zooming in with great clarity, whether it’s at concerts, movie premieres or taking pictures of my nephew during busy playtimes. What is particularly attractive is the combination of high detail and bokeh effect. By jumping to zoom, I had to make sure I was still far enough away to use the teleconverter, or it would struggle to focus.

OPPO is putting its new spin on being the ultimate phone for concerts and live events, and the zoom range is very impressive. Perhaps understandably, the more you zoom in, the greater the risk of blurry shots. OPPO includes a special tripod mount that attaches to the lens barrel to make sure everything is perfect, but it’s a step up for me. Carrying around the teleconverter plate and mounting plate is already a lot. And it’s the work burn that should reduce the plate when using the camera without a teleconverter. Oddly, the plate covers some of the sensors, which means if you’re looking for a sharper focus point (or want to use anything other than the phone’s telephoto sensor), it’s an extra pain point before taking a photo.

It’s rare that a phone’s “Main” camera isn’t the star of the show, but that’s probably the case with the Find X9 Pro. However, the technology is impressive. With the new 1 / 1.28 sensor installed by Sony, the large 50mp camera can hold three exposures per frame before combining them. OPPO claims to offer 17 photos for dynamic range. There is also a fourth camera, a true color camera, dedicated to measuring the relative temperatures of all the other sensors. All in all, an impressive system, but you’ll get a lot more out of it if you’re willing to pay for an extra teleconverter.

At £1,099 in the UK, OPPO has beaten the price with the iPhone 17 Pro, although we’re still waiting to hear the prices of the teleconverter. I was afraid of the prices, but this seems to be at least competitive here in Europe.

What is stopping OPPO from entering the US? A frenzy of trade and competition, perhaps. If it can clean up the experience (and maybe keep its next phone compatible with the same teleconverter), it has a good chance in the smartphone photographer’s view that looks away from their phonos and pixels.
