“Homeowners in affordable markets can easily afford to move, and benefit from the strong demand for affordable homes. This means homes hit the market and sell successfully,” Jones said.

Texas is seeing a significant amount of housing inflows, in particular, because its markets are among the best-supplied in the country.

“Many metros in Texas have more homes for sale today than they did before the pandemic,” Jones said, adding that higher inventory creates higher buyer conditions, which support higher profits. ”

Even though it’s not cheap nationwide, Jones said “the affordability associated with many of these markets is still better than the coastal markets.” He said home prices are low and buyers tend to get more bang for their buck.
