Major UAE companies sign agreements for aluminum production in Aluminum

The UAE also showed its commitment to the establishment of four major companies – Emirates Global Aluminum (Taqa), Emiral Cheather Company (Ewec) – Company in the Emirates, and the development of renewable water and energy development in Abu Dhabi.
It promises to be one of the largest decalbonelation projects in the world’s aluminum industry.

Agreements Cement Own – Strategies that promote the growth of Taqa and Dubal which hold the development of the Aluminum industry in the Aluminum industry in Abu Dhabi, and improve the Emirate’s energy efficiency, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Dr Abdulla Mutead Al Jarwan, chairman of the Department of Energy in Abu Dhabi, said: “These agreements demonstrate Abu Dhabi’s reliable approach to work – delivering reliable and sustainable energy to power the growth of the manufacturing sector, while reducing its carbon footprint.
“The Ministry of Energy in partnership with Ewec, Taqa, Dubel Holding and EGA has brought this project to completion.
Among the many agreements signed, taqa and dubal Holding will acquire EGAS’s energy and hydropower assets in Al Taweelah for US $ 1.9 billion).
The power plant, which is the third largest in Abu Dhabi, has the capacity of GWICI, and includes 6.55 gallons per day of gas melting, using the technology of combined gas and reverse osmosis technology.
Taqa and Dubal Holding are forming a new joint venture, which will own the property, and the operations will be managed by a new company and maintenance company, jointly by TAQA and EGA.
Ewec will buy power from the al Taweelah plant until 2049 after signing a power purchase agreement (PPA) with the taqa-dubal holding JV. The plant will provide renewable energy, adding to the ongoing integration of renewable and clean energy into the Abu Dhabi grid.
TAQA Transmission will acquire the equipment to transmit electricity. It is currently carrying out a project to increase the capacity of the interconnection from the main grid to the site of eeee-iDA from 640 to 3,360 Megavoolt-ampaste, to allow the transmission of clean energy from the grid. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2027.
EGA will be the single largest electricity customer in the Abu Dhabi Grid after signing the largest electricity supply agreements for Abu Dhabi with Ewec and TAQA distribution. These agreements will provide EGA with 23 Terrawatt hours (twins) of electricity per year for 24 years, more from renewable and clean energy sources.
Ewec is accelerating Abu Dhabi’s energy expansion, and by 2035 forecasts more than 18GW of Solar PV will be operational. It also has the power to manipulate and produce water. Complete company projects co2 Emissions from the energy sector will decrease by about 50 percent in the mid-2030s.
EGA will increase the proportion of its solar aluminum production and low carbon aluminum (produced using nuclear power) to about half of its total production by the end of 2028, depending on market demand. Climate and micro production will start to increase from the fourth quarter of 2025.
The total greenhouse gas emissions reduced by this program are expected to be 3.5 million tons annually by 2035, more than three percent of Abu Dhabi’s current Emions.
The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and other closing conditions, and is expected to close in the new year.
Abdulnass Bin Kalban, EGA’s Chief Executive Officer, added: “This initiative is one of the largest Aluminigation projects in the Aluminum industry worldwide, and makes EGA the industry leader in our industry.
“For our global customers, it greatly increases the availability of low-carbon ‘aluminium’, strengthening the role of our steel currently to make today’s life to do not only as a producer of EGA ‘ALL COMPLETE, but also very stable.”
