“President Trump’s plan to target this Narco crime structure is correct,” said Wednesday at the American Business Forum in Miami, “because Naculoá Maduro has declared war on the people of Venezuela and other countries in the region.”

“These criminal organizations support themselves under the money from drug trafficking … and you need to cut those financial pressures, and that’s exactly what the President is doing for the citizens of the American citizens, the citizens of Latin America and of course the Venezuelan citizens.”

Machado, a leading figure in Venezuela’s democratic movement, has been close for a long time with the Trump Administration’s actions against Maduro’s regime and the country’s drug-trafficking network. He was banned from running in Venezuela’s presidential election earlier this year and has become a key figure in the country’s anti-democratic movement.

Last month, FOX news reported that a US strike killed Tren de Aragua Narco-terrorists transporting drugs to Venezuela. Two weeks later, Trump ordered a night-time strike against another suspected Tren de Aragua in the Caribbean Sea – Marking 10 boats that have been targeting drug-trafficking mountains since he returned to office.

Tren de Aragua is a violent Venezuelan criminal organization that has expanded operations in many Latin American countries and the US, according to law enforcement agencies.

“Maduro started this war, and President Trump is ending that war,” Machado said Wednesday. “This is a serious problem that all Americans, all Americans must understand – Venezuela has been turned into an opponent of the United States and our enemies, our enemies, our institutions have been hijacked by these actors.”

“The transition to democracy will surely reverse this and turn Venezuela into a more powerful security partner for the United States.”
