LARRY KUDLOW: Thank you to Mr. Trump and Mr. Netanyahu

This is the holiday season, and it should be a time of joy and celebration. Christmas and Hanukkah. And family gatherings, office parties, and beautiful Christmas trees and menorahs. With Santa Claus and putting big smiles on the faces of our children and grandchildren. But suddenly all the news is horrible. It’s like criminals trying to steal happiness from civilized people.

I cannot explain the unexplained deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele. I can’t explain it. And I can’t explain the cause of the shooting at Brown University. These are horrific acts of violence, at a time of year that should be filled with joy. But I can explain the horrible acts of anti-Semitism that happen in Australia during the Hanukkah event.

This insane mass murder, father and son, comes from a country that is America’s biggest ally, but is run by a left-wing cabal. It is led by Anthony Albanese.

According to Axios, there have been more than 1,600 recorded antisemitic incidents in the country this year alone, according to data from the Executive Council of Australian Jewry. Fortunately, a brave Muslim man, Ahmed al-Ahmed, appeared out of the blue and took down one of the gunmen in the Bondi massacre. This was a great feat. But sadly, 16 people were killed and three others were injured in the worst incident of anti-Semitic violence since the October 7 terror attacks in Israel.

Here is what Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said to the Australian Albanian yesterday: “On August 17, almost four months ago, I sent a letter to the Australian Albanian Prime Minister in which I gave him a warning that the policy of the Australian government encourages and encourages anti-Semitism in Australia.

Netanyahu added: “Instead, Prime Minister, you replaced weakness with weakness and appeasement with more complacency. Your government did nothing to stop the spread of anti-Semitism in Australia. You did nothing to stop the cancer cells that were growing in your country. You took no action. You allowed this disease to spread and the result was the horrific attack on Jews that we have seen today.”

So, I’ll just say, good for Prime Minister Netanyahu. People must answer for themselves. That includes governments that do not cooperate with us, but there is a connection between coddling antisemitism and subsequent acts of inhumane violence.

Which brings me back to the US, I don’t know what caused the killing of two students at Brown University and the injury of nine others. But I want to note that Brown, along with Columbia, Penn and other top American universities, have been harboring antisemitism for years. The entire DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) movement that spread like wildfire, until President Donald Trump ended it, was the catalyst for all of this campus opposition.

President Trump has cracked down on these schools, threatening to take away much of their funding, and forcing many campus reforms. And it seems that many schools are changing their policies.

So at least in most of the Americas, the light and brightness of Christmas and Hanukkah will be celebrated. And I will be very grateful for the toughness of President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu.
