The return of his remains would be an important development in the US-blocred sector which has been badly damaged amid the slow return of hostages’ bodies and skirmishes between Israeli forces. It will also end the painful, 11-year saga of his family and Israel, where Goldin has become a national symbol.
If the body is identified as Goldin, there will be four bodies of the hostages left in Gaza.
At the beginning of the next cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said that holding the body for so long caused “the pain of his family will be able to bury the Jews.”

Goldin’s family led a public campaign, along with the family of another soldier who was taken in 2014, to bring their sons home for burial. Israel recovered the remains of another soldier, Oron Shaul, earlier this year.
Netanyahu said the government will continue to try to bring home the bodies of Israelis who were killed while occupying the country, including ELI COHANE in Damascus in 1965, whose exploitation was celebrated on ‘Spy Television.
Israeli media, citing unnamed officials, previously reported that Hamas was delaying the release of Goldin’s body in the hope of negotiating a safe haven for soldiers surrounded by Rafah forces.
Gila Gamliel, Minister of Technology, Science and Technology and Member of Netnyahu’s Lifana Party, told military radio that Israel is not negotiating a specific agreement.
“There are agreements for their initiation that are confirmed by mediators, and we should not allow anyone to come now and play (games) and reopen the agreement,” he said.
Hamas has not commented on the exchange that its fighters may be stuck in the so-called aslow zone, although it is controlled that there are conflicts taking place there.
