Iconic Los Angeles Stahl House hits the market for the first time for $25 million

Los Angeles’ famous Stahl has hit the market for the first time, carrying an eye-watering price tag of $25 million.
The 2,200-square-foot home has been in the Stahl family since 1959, when Carlotta Stahl served Pierre Koenig properties to build in the Hollywood Hills, according to Real Every Hills.
The 2-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home has had an “incomparable” impact on the “architecture, visual culture, and global outlook of Los Angeles,” as noted in the listing.

“The home was dying with the famous photo of Julius Shulman’s children in 1960, later recognized by Time Magazine as one of the most influential photos in the history of 200 years,” said the list.
The stahls bought the lot in 1954 for just $13,500, and the home was finished in 1960 for $37,500. It features steel and glass walls, a stone fireplace, a pool and 270-degree views of the city, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Director William, the agency’s Beverly Hills property director, said that since November 21, he had received hundreds of phone calls asking about the home, the LA Times reported.
“A historic Los Angeles – cultural monument and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the home carries a Mills Act Recoration and an unsecured chain of family ownership since 1960,” the listing states. “This is not just sales; it’s about responsibility.”
This area has been featured in several movies and shows – including the “Columbo” pilot, “Galaxy” Pilot, “Nurse Betty,” according to the LA Times.

It has been open for tours for the past 17 years, according to the Stahl family’s website.

“After 65 years, our family made a heartfelt and very difficult decision to put the stahl house on the market,” said the Stahel family “This home has been the center of our lives for decades, but as we have grown, it has become more challenging to maintain it with the attention and energy it deserves.”
