General Hospital: The Worst News of 2025 – Fans Absolutely HATE These Tragedies!

Looking back at General Hospital bad news this year, including Dante Falconeri’s (Dominic Zamprogna) disgust, Lucky Spencer’s (Jonathan Jackson) return through a strange revolving door, and much more.
We will dig of GH 2025 bad plots, ranging from lame to ridiculous.
General Hospital: Dante vs. Gio
Okay, number one, the first bad story we talked about is Dante who hates Gio Palmieri (Giovanni Mazza) both before and after finding out about their family ties as father and son. At first, it was considered and later for me, it was contempt. Therefore, Dante and Gio have been on good terms for two decades. They knew each other all his life. And this was before that major rewrite General Hospital and they had a son. Interesting. That’s not really the problem here. That’s how Dante behaved.
Because suddenly, right before the big reveal, Rocco Falconeri (Finn Frances Carr) got alcohol poisoning at the party and Dante wrongly blamed Gio. Mind you, it wasn’t his fault at all. He actually helped Rocco and maybe saved him, but it was a clumsily written attempt to deliberately antagonize Dante and Gio right before the father was revealed. This is a recurring thing GH he has done it many times over the years, making it even worse and more thoughtful.
GH Repeats an Overdone Structure
They have a parent and a child and they hate each other and reveal that they are parent and child. They did it with Dante and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard). They did it with Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) and Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen). They did it with Carly Corinthos Spencer (Laura Wright) and Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman).
Well, I mean, Carly knew, but Bobbie didn’t. But it is a textbook GH repeat the structure. So, Dante later tried to apologize and reconnected with Gio after finding out that he was his son with Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton). Then GH he turned around and made Dante hate Gio again because of Hank Dalton’s (Daniel Goddard) lab hack. And yes, I’ll admit it was a bit of Gio’s fault.
But Rocco went into the workshop alone after Gio told him, “Don’t do anything. Then Dante made it worse, saying that Rocco can’t see Gio. So now they’re trying to make peace for Rocco. And I just hope General Hospital he no longer pits Dante against Gio. Enough is enough. Good thing, at least Dante didn’t shoot Gio like Sonny shot him. There is that. But it’s still very structured and repetitive. There is nothing new to see and nothing interesting in Dante’s name.
Sonny Corinthos and Justine Turner: Is This Law Enforcement Recycled Romance Finally Different?
Number two on our list of bad shows is Sonny and Justine Turner (The Nazneen Contractor) and their flirty little thing. Again, the plot repeats itself General Hospital having Sonny flirt and fall in love with another female law enforcement officer. It has been done many times over the years. It’s not going well. The fans always hate it and bring it out again. Lately, it seems like Sonny is starting to win over Justine and that she’s been proving to him that she’s not bad. And it seemed like she was starting to see Sonny differently, especially when Justine (Nazneen Contractor) came to Sonny’s house for help with her car that night.
After that, Justine met Donna Corinthos (Scarlett Spears), who is lovely. Then he heard Drew Cain Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison) criticize Sonny. And it looked like Justine (Nazneen Contractor) was really warming up to Sonny. But recently, Justine told Molly Lansing-Davis (Kristen Vaganos) that she lets Sonny think she’s pleasing her, but Justine still plans to take him down. So, it’s the same story line again. I expect Sonny to win her over and they fall in love. We will see.
This plot of Justine will only be new if she really doesn’t like Sonny and files charges against him. Otherwise, it’s the same old, same old, same old. Now, finally, we know that Justine won’t be putting Sonny behind bars at all, or if she does, it won’t be for long. Well, most likely, Justine will fall because of the dimples, or things will just fall apart, and they will let the plot fall by the wayside, and there was no point in it in the first place. This is an evil conspiracy that will continue until 2026.
The Empty Return of Jonathan Jackson as Lucky Spencer: A Disappointment for GH Fans
Okay, number three on our list is Lucky’s unexpected return and sudden exit. It made Jonathan Jackson’s comeback pointless. I mean, fans were happy when he returned as Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) after disappearing for 13 years. Some fans, others didn’t want him to come back because they didn’t like the way he treated Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst). So, there was all this hoopla and big hype about Jonathan Jackson’s return and promises of big drama.
Lucky then reconnected with Elizabeth, which was interesting because she hasn’t had a hot story in years. Lucky then proposed to Elizabeth, but she was unable to do so because she was worried that Lucky would not be able to settle in Port Charles. Of course he bailed and left Port Chuck. And I understand as a person, as a player, why Jonathan Jackson came to him General Hospital and why he left. He wanted a gig.
He wanted regular pay, but he and his family live in Tennessee. He didn’t want to go back to California. And finally, Jonathan Jackson couldn’t handle the back and forth and working so far from home. So, I don’t blame the actor at all. But in the end, Lucky’s return was one of the worst stories of 2025 because it was nothing. Nothing came of it except for some closure between Lucky and Elizabeth. And now he’s back to being a side character, which stinks.
Cody Bell’s Questionable Seduction Scheme: The Low Point of General Hospital Characters
Okay, next on our list, number four, Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) is paid to seduce Ava Jerome (Maura West). And I think this is annoying GH fans because Cody and Molly were starting to have feelings for each other. But not even more than that. It was a plan cooked up by Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Kate Mansi) because of her undying hatred for Ava. And when they recast Kristina’s character, she’s written as very unlikeable.
Fans were sick and tired of Kristina and pissed off that she dragged Cody into being a hustler for a quick buck. It just didn’t make sense. Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) pays him well. Happy at Quartermaines. She and Mac Scorpio (John J. York) get along and she has a new family that loves her. So, it didn’t make sense for Cody to risk it. So, Kristina tempting him on the big payday was icky. It was basically male prostitution.
In addition, fans hated that Kristina was hurting Molly again by paying Cody to get close to Ava when Kristina knew Molly’s heart was on the line. Thankfully, Cody came to his senses. And honestly, Kristina is a lot more tolerable now that she, Ava, and Alexis Davis caught Ric Lansing (Rick Hearst) and made an arrest for that. And Cody and Molly are finally on the right track. So, yes. But Kristina Cody’s plot was still bad.

Drew Kaine’s Villain Arc: Why Fans Think He’s GH’s Worst Character of 2025
Okay, number five on our list, last but not least, the worst plot General Hospital this past year was all about Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison). Every plot is not bad, except the one where he was shot. And the reason that one is bad is because the fans are so disappointed that he didn’t die. If you had, I might say this was one of the best programs. And of course, this is about the character, not the actor. Cameron Mathison is an excellent host. This is why fans hate Drew so much because Cameron plays this villain so well. So, hats off to him.
But General Hospital he twisted Drew’s character to be more evil and unlikable. When GH first paired him with Willow, it was the beginning of the end for Drew. It has made him irredeemable since the Fourth of July kiss last year. And you know, Drew went from being a problem to being obnoxious and unfocused. He beat Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner).
He tried to make the Quartermaine crypt. He watched Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) have a heart attack and didn’t help. He stole Tracy’s inheritance. There is no taking Drew back for what he did. Unless we find out he’s under mind control by Peter August (Wes Ramsey) or Faison (Anders Hove) or some random Cassadine. Drew plots are the worst news of 2025.
From Loved Ones to Heartfelt Memories: The Best General Hospital Sites of the Year
And in case you’re wondering which episodes I liked, here’s the guide. I loved Erika Slezak as Ronnie Bard (Erika Slezak) and everything that went with it. I love Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) coming back and working with Carly to destroy Jack Brennan (Chris McKenna). I also liked that they brought up Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), although I didn’t like Rocco calling her “another mother.”
But then again, young people are angry that way. The passing of Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) I thought was very well done, as well as her memorial. Lastly, I love, love, love Recast Michael (Rory Gibson). I love Chad Duell, but Rory Gibson is a revelation as Michael. I loved the actor The Young and the Restlessbut they never give him enough airtime, he burns the walls General Hospital. Leave your comments here with your best and worst episodes of the year.
