Fishy Business: Dubai Waterfront Market Trades 800 tons of fresh food every day

The Dubai Water Market (WFM), the largest food market in the Emirate and home to more than 800 traders, has strengthened its role as the backbone of Dubai’s seafood market and is a strong contributor to its wide offering.

On average, the market sells more than 800 tons of fresh food every day, underscoring its importance as a center for commercial trade and the community.

Mohammad Al-Madani, WFM Manager, says: “The water market has become a central force in supporting Dubai’s food trade, including fishermen, local and international traders, and international suppliers on a daily basis.

“Our recent volumes reflect the reliability of our vendors and the strength of our infrastructure, which continues to grow step by step for the city.

“We are proud to play an important role in all major sectors of fresh food, contributing to the objectives of the national security strategy 2051 by ensuring reliable access to fresh food for consumers and companies”.

Dubai Waterfront Market Seafood Sate

At both the wholesale and retail levels, more than 600 marine tons are sold daily, provided by local fishermen and foreign sources.

About 500 seafood vendors offer more than 260 species – from stars such as Hamour and King Fish to different catches including sea fish and king species – alongside 50 dried species of fish.

About 70 percent of seafood is caught in UAE waters, while 30 percent of dried fish is imported from around the world.

The live auction, held every day, remains the defining feature of the market and attracts vendors from all over the country, making it one of the best seafood platforms in the region.

Fresh food portfolio

Apart from the sea, the dubai sea water market hosts more than 300 vendors of all fruits and vegetables, meat and poultry, and dry spices.

The fruit and vegetable market produces more than 80 local farms and imports from all over the country, offering more than 160 varieties.

Traders in the meat market and the poultry market for reductions from many countries and niche items such as scrambled eggs and the rare ostrich egg.

At that time, the dry goods and spices market causes consumers with more than 250 types in days, nuts, grains and spices.

Together, these divisions serve more than 180 nationalities, ensuring the constant demand for fresh food for Dubai residents, hospitality companies and businesses.

Customer Need

To meet increasing customer demand, WFM continues to expand its offerings and support business partners across the food chain.

The most recent addition includes dedicated cheese and milk and a new special explosion of coffee, complementing the existing experience that is similar to the sales concept, where it is cooked in fresh seafood restaurants and cooked in low-class restaurants.

The market’s live marine circuit and dedicated cleaning facilities add further flexibility and look at the WFM situation as it is led by an integrated environment.
