Elizabeth Warren blames Scott Besslent of Prearitina in Argentina over American farmers

“With several large harvests and some stocks remaining from 2024, harvesting in many areas is expected to fill grain bins quickly, even in areas that have been added to the ground, risking crop damage and other price reductions,” the lawmakers wrote.

Bessent announced on Oct. 9 that the Ministry of Finance will participate in the exchange rate agreement with the bank of Argentina, in an effort to strengthen the Argentine peso in exchange for US dollars.
Bessent said in a communication post in the US “that was prepared, immediately, to take special measures allowed to provide assistance to the market,” and has since said that Argentina is financially dependent on the use of sovereign funds.
At that time, Trump has shown that he can give farmers some kind of financial assistance, and proposed at the beginning of October to redirect the money to the US arising from imports into the US for farmers.
When Trump implemented tariffs during his first administration, the federal government provided billions of dollars in government aid to farmers after China retaliated.

“Instead of prioritizing US farmers and rural communities, the administration doubled down on helping Argentina when family farmers are running out of time and cannot tolerate short-term international actions instead of long-term economic stability,” the lawmakers wrote.
Warren, the top Democrat on the Senate Banking, House and Home Affairs Committee, introduced the Argentine bailout bill in October. The measure would prevent the Trump administration from using the exchange rate fund of the Department of Finance (ESF), which provides funds to foreign governments and where $ 20b comes from, to help Argentina.

Without passing this law, there are small democrats who can stop the Ministry of Finance from moving forward with its plans to help Argentina because the agency is given a broad vision of how to exchange the stability fund.
Other Democrats who signed the letter include the leader of the senate minority stuck in New York, and emotions. Adam Schifn of Illinois, Chrick Durbin of Illinois and Chris van Hollen of Maryland.
The Treasury Department did not respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
However, this is not the first time that Warren has also fought for a financial lifestyle in Argentina. Bessent supported the Trump Administration’s decision to help Argentina.

“We are compelled to prioritize the critical efforts necessary to discharge the President’s constitutional duties – including national security and financial stability,” Sessent said on Oct. 21 letter in Warren.
Bessent then accused Warren of showing “deviant views,” referring to the former president of Argentina, Juan Perón, and Peronism, the view that the government should have control over the country’s economy, according to the state department’s office.
“It’s no small surprise – given your peronist views on Central Government and freedom – that this kind of action causes great concern,” said Sessent.

Trump and President Javier Milei of Argentina have had a warm relationship since Trump took office. For example, Milei was the first foreign head of state to visit Trump following the 2024 election.
