Dubai unveils plan to triple sports participation for 2.6M residents by 2033

Dubai aims to nearly triple the number of residents involved in sports to 2.6m by 2033 under a new strategy from Sheikh Mamsoor bin Mohammed Bin Rashid al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Al Maktoum (DSC).

The Dubai Sports Sounds Plan Surmal Plan 2033 sets a long-term vision to establish the emirate as one of the best sports destinations in the world, made through community participation, major events and talent development.

The program, overseen by the Dubai Sports Council, is built around four central pillars:

  • Community
  • Events
  • Clubs
  • Talent

Sports in Dubai

It includes 19 programs and 75 programs designed to create an accessible, accessible and high-quality sports environment across the Emirate.

Khalfan Jumaa Belhoul, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council, said: “This program aims to develop Dubai as a place that is more active in sports.

“The program includes three major public programs designed to transform the sports activities of all sections of society. The Council’s institutions went to public events in parks and Council buildings in Dubais events and competitions dedicated to their participation in society and sports.”

Women, youth and community sport

The program will emphasize women’s competitions, youth activities and school sports programs.

Thirteen leading ways will be presented, including the Shendha Hind Women’s Sports Center for Sports and Learning Areas of ‘Dubai’, to ensure that every resident gets sports opportunities across the emirate across the emirate across the emirate across the emirate.

The Sheikhenge sports initiative for women will appear in the first program that provides women’s campaigns, events and health campaigns, targeting more than 200,000 participants in the next two years.

It will start with the Women’s Triathlon Cup which started on December 7, followed by a full series of women’s sports competitions that cater to nationalities and age groups.

The program also aims to increase the number of students participating in school sports to 70,000 every year – an expansion of the 3.5 sports program – which will include 26 participants held in selected competitions.

The flagship initiative, the “Dubai Regional Games”, will promote healthy behaviors and community engagement through the tournament in:

  • Football field
  • 3 × 3 Basketball
  • Voila
  • Badminton

More than 3,800 participants aged 18 and above will compete over 16 days from 4-19 December across several locations, with finals scheduled for December 17-19 in a central location yet to be announced.

Each team will represent its member’s home region, with competitions spread across eight areas:

  • Central Area: Jumulah, Zabeel, Ras Al Khor
  • Zone in the North: Bur Dubai, Deira Corniche
  • Western Deira (Deira 1)
  • Eastern deira (deira 2)
  • District 1 (Mohammed Bin Rashid City)
  • The type of soil
  • Southern area: Jebel Ali, Hessian, Mina Jebel Ali, Al Maktoum City
  • Eastern Zone: Saih Al Salam, Wadi Al Safa, Hind City, Hatta, Al FAQA, Margham, Al Alir

The competitions will take place in two stages: zone level matches The games will take place in the top tier areas, giving athletes and spectators a great experience.

Sports for all

The program also includes annual youth sports centers around, annual activities for the disabled, and sports competitions for working communities in 10 areas covering 12 sports.

Establishing Urban Sports planning is another important factor, with sports centers to be integrated into new communities and improvements made to old areas to ensure equal access. The Dubai Sports Council has partnered with Dubai Municipality and the Roads and Transport Authority to embed sports spaces in future urban development projects.
