Dubai sets a target to integrate with the social media of the GDP of the GDP as Sheikh Ahmed Orda digital acceleration

Dubai has set a new goal to repeat the contribution of Emistance’s Emkhameli to the GDP of the Emirate from 1.4 percent to 3 percent 203.
Sheikh Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Mashid Al Maktoum, second ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council (DMC), led a meeting to review the sector’s indicators, initiatives and programs to transform digital media.
The update comes as Dubai strengthens efforts to align its Ecosystem with the Emirate Development Agenda and the vision of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.
Dubai Media Targets
Sheikh Ahmed said Dubai’s media sector has great potential to increase its economic impact, noting the importance of strong public-private partnerships and clear regulatory frameworks to support growth.
He confirmed that the government’s commitment to providing the necessary infrastructure for media companies and institutions to establish, measure and the objectives of the economic agenda of Dubai D33.
He emphasized the need to accelerate digital transformation across the Dubai Media Vandcape, emphasizing the sector’s role in raising public awareness, supporting Dubai’s future strategies and strengthening global influence.
Keeping pace with technological shifts around the world, he said, requires advanced tools, sophisticated techniques and platforms capable of engaging audiences in the UAE and abroad.
Review of Dubai Media Council
During the meeting, Sheikh ahmed updated the performance indicators shaping the RoadMap to 2033. These include:
- Increasing the GDP contribution of the media sector
- Strengthening Exports
- Attracting Foreign Investment
- Establishing new film and gaming committees
- Expanding the global reach of Dubai’s strategic communications
Priorities also include strengthening local content production, supporting private media companies, expanding talent incentives, and the growing audience of the Government of Dubai Media Office at regional and international levels.
Regulatory powers are strengthened
Mona al Marri, the Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Media Council, said that she has transferred the supervision of the control of the Dubai media in the Dubai media sector to the council under Law No. (29) of 2024 brought the greatest impact.
He also noted that the adred mandate enables the Council to effectively implement media development plans that are consistent with international standards, strengthened as a center for media innovation and a place for global talent.
He said the Council’s responsibility to issue permits and licenses, while ensuring consistency with Emirati culture and values, provides the clear regulatory environment needed to support competition and innovation.
Global expansion
Nehal Badri, Secretary General of the Dubai Media Council, said that the Council is expanding its global expertise by 2025 by collaborating with academic institutions of the countries that will shape the future and build the media talent of the future.
He highlighted the launch of the first Dubai Fingy Film Forum and the Arab 2025 press conference and the establishment of two film bodies – the Dubai Film Development Committee and the Dubai Sports Committee.
Efforts to develop talent included a media leadership program, a Media knowledge exchange program and the Emirati Media Talent pledge, alongside advanced training collaborations with regional organizations in the states and abroad.
DMI digital strategy enabled
During the meeting, Shemi ahmed agreed on Dubai Media Incortated’s (DMI) digital strategy and reviewed the progress of major transformation plans, including the expansion of its “Awaan” television content platform to local, regional and global outlets.
DMIs outlined the key pillars of his strategy, including advanced content development, originality, partnerships with technology leaders, and insights driven by global market analysis.
This approach aims to strengthen the organization’s digital identity by partnering around the world with relevant emirates, news-oriented formats and podcasts.
Members of the DMI Youth Council for Dubai media in Dubai attended the meeting as part of efforts to develop Emirati media leaders under the National Youth Agenda 2031.

At the end of the meeting, Shedi Ahmed met with participants of DMI “Media Polioch Programs – Emirati Photographer” and participants in the Program “Diploma Program for Leaders” established in collaboration with ILI Media Academy and Illaf Train Africa. These initiatives aim to equip second and third world leaders with global media work skills.
