DOJ Details Tech Allegedly Used in Poker Scandal Tied to NBA, MOB

Sports analyst Patrick McEnroe interviews more than 30 individuals, including chauncey billups and damon jones, in a tough gambling job tied to strong poker families and mafia families.
The Department of Justice has detailed the technology allegedly used by NBA Stars, members of organized crime and their associates of Rig High-Apoker Games and defrauded victims of millions of dollars.
A range of sophisticated equipment, including variable speed machines, wireless communication, chip tray analysis and an X-ray table were said to have played their roles in different games at different locations in New York City, East Hampton, the Department of Justice said.
“For years, these individuals have allegedly hosted illegal poker games where they used extensive technology and enlisted current and former players to cheat people out of millions of dollars,” Kesthomishar Jessica Tisch said in a statement. “This complex system was so far-reaching that it included members of the families of the four organized crimes, and when people refused to pay because they went down, these defendants were accused of what was done, they made accusations.”

The tools and how they were attacked used the Rig games, according to the DOJ indictment:
Modified Modified Machines
While they seemed normal, these machines had hidden features that gave members of the program.
In a traditional poker game, according to the lawsuit, the dealer uses a pooling machine to reduce the cards before dealing them to all players in a certain order. But in serious games, slot machines contain hidden technology that allows them to read all the cards in the deck before using them.

Wireless communication
Since the cards were always dealt in a certain order to the players, the machines could effectively determine which player would have the winning hand. That information at that time was relayed to a person not on site, then relayed that information via cell phone back to the player at the table. The player scheduled to win was called the “Quarterback” or “Driver.”

Chip Tray Analyzer
The defendants are also said to have used the Chip Tray Analyzer. It looks like a standard poker chip tray, which holds the dealer’s chips during the game, but it has been modified with hidden cameras, giving it the ability to secretly read all the cards.

The X-ray table can read cards face down on the table. However, the Conspirators also claim to use special contact lenses or eyeglasses that can read pre-marked cards.

All the devices are suspected of allowing the cheating party to know which player will win each hand, allowing them to bet accordingly. Also, unscrupulous players lose large sums of money, sometimes tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars in a single game allegedly organized by crime families, according to the lawsuit.
