Columbia guarantees hack, health information

Columbia University has just confirmed a large cyberattack that has placed on personal, financial and provisions related to students, applicants and staff. Victims include current and former students, employees and applicants. Notifications to the parties began on August 7 and continued to roll.

Columbia, one of the oldest universities in Ivy League, received breaches after a network out of June. According to Colombia, disturbance is caused by an unauthorized party that receives its systems and stole sensitive data. Investigators are still considering the size of theft.

What details are stolen?

According to a notice that violated the law held with the Main Atorter’s Generance office, about 869,000 people were affected in Colombia breach. This number includes students, employees, applicants, and other situations, family members. Media shops also reported that a threatened character said that the 460 data gigabys of data appeared in Columbia’s programs.

Columbia has confirmed that the stolen information relates to admission, registration, and financial records probably, and certain employees details. The information fields listed include:

  • Names, Birthdays, and Social Security numbers

  • Insurance information and certain health details

Columbia University’s response

Columbia reported the incident to the global extinction and works with cyberercere experts. The university declared its plans with developed protection and policies to protect future events.
