Coca-Cola Pulls Out Can Sugar Soda Products From US After Trump Push: Report

Coca-Cola has reportedly begun removing soda made from sugar cans across the US, months after President Donald Trump called on the beverage giant to bring back the ingredients in its American products.
A new 12-ounce, glass-operated bottle of Coca-Cola’s Signature Soda made with US sugar is launching in select markets across the country, a company spokesperson told the New York Post.
Travel offers consumers “a classic and timeless way to enjoy the authentic taste of Coca-Cola made with us,” said a spokesperson for the company.

Coca-Cola Chief Commercial Officer John Murphy told Bloomberg News on Tuesday that the launch will be difficult.
“It’s going to be a limited release,” Murphy said. “There is only a certain amount of sugar that can be found in the United States.”
This announcement follows months after Juli said that he had spoken to Coca-Cola executives about bringing back “real sugar” to their US products and that the company agreed.

“I’ve been talking to Coca-Cola about using real sugar in Coke in the United States, and they’ve agreed to do that,” wrote Social Truth. “I’d like to thank everyone in charge at Coca-Cola. This is going to be a great move by them – you’ll see. It’s just better!”
Just days before Trump’s announcement in July, Coca-Cola said in its second earnings report that it planned to reformulate a version of its Signature Soda made with real sugar.

In the 1980s, a major sugar-fueled drink, which came with high prices, was high-fructose corn syrup. High-Fructose Corn Syrup was a cheap alternative due to poor agricultural subsidies.
When Mexican COCA-Cola, made from cane sugar and sold in glass bottles, is imported into the US, it is a concession that often carries a higher price tag.
Coca-Cola did not immediately respond to FOX’s corporate request for comment.
