Byd New Byd Seal 6 Legacy should worry vw and Skoda

Build your dreams (BYD) has set itself the goal of selling 50,000 cars alone in Germany next year and with their current offerings it is possible to achieve that, they have come up with a new architectural vehicle designed for European taste.

Byd is the biggest EV brand in the world but the Seal 6 DM-I Touring shows that the Chinese manufacturer didn’t offer an internal combustion engine either.

When they launch the Seal 6 later this year with prices starting at € 42,990, it will be the first Byd load carrier but also, for the first time, the so-called IDM Technology.

This is banned as a green alternative to mile-munching prisons and should enable frequent drivers to travel across the country without frequent gas stops and still be able to drive electric most of the time.

At the heart of the car is a plug-in hybrid where the electric side is most active.

1.5-liter petrol and 4 In normal operation, it runs as a range extender, generating electricity only with the electric motor.

Only when the driver presses hard on the accelerator does the hybrid series from the series to the same mode, and the motor works directly on the front wheels.

The performance is, well, a tad enderhelming, and there isn’t much dialogue to write home about. Even with the combined forces, the heavy seal 6 is not a powerhouse, which brings the result of a high system of 156 kw / 212 hp.

At least the chassis set-up tuning matches the speed of fun and the Seal 6 glides humbly between turns.

The Dual-Mode motor is available in two configurations. While the gasoline engine with a displacement of 1.5 liters and 72 kW / 98 HP remains the same, Byd offers a difference in the electric side of the drive. In the basic model, the output of the system is 135 kW / 184 HP and the battery is 10.1 kWh, which means it has 50 kilometers without fuel.

Those who pay at least € 48,990 get a total of 156 KW / 212 HP and a 19 kWh battery for a range of 100 kilometers.

The battery can be charged either with a motor or by cable – but then slowly. Even with a fast charger, it cannot exceed 26 kW. However, the Seal 6 supports “car charging” mode and can be used as a power bank at the bank or when camping.

The driving force behind the legacy of local medicine is inclusive. Drivers of electric cars will miss the punch of their mobility in their cars and the extra peace of mind on the go.

As for the combustion group in the engine, because the electronics pull the plug at 180 km / h, drivers may not feel anything about the power in the fast lane.

That aside, the Seal 6 fits perfectly into the mid-range segment – whether alongside the Skoda Octavia, VW Passat or Peugeot 508.

The design is attractive without being flashy and with its smooth finish and striking taillights, the logo looks modern without being gimmicky.

The controls are very fun. There are still plenty of buttons, and you can even change the glasses using the buttons instead of the touch screen. And BYD has gone with the unusual rotating screen found in many models, as well as the selfie cam mode or the karaoke mode.

The equipment is full and up to date, except for the lack of a head display. If only so many aid programs weren’t so outrageous, with the flaming noises that often dominate for no apparent reason.

Above all, though, the package is a perfect fit and the Seal 6 Touring offers plenty of space for the whole family. With a length of 4.84 meters and a wheelbase of 2.79 meters, the back seat is not funny, even for adults.

There are already 500 liters of space under the luggage cover, and installed on the roof can hold 675 liters of luggage. When the asymmetrically splat rear seat backrest is pulled down, you can access 1,535 liters of luggage in a flat position.

No, the Seal 6 Touring is not an exciting car – and it’s also not one that will impress your neighbors when parked in the driveway.

That said, the Byd Estate Car is an attractive option for discerning buyers and, above all, the choice of fleet managers. Maybe Byd will be able to achieve its desired enrollment target after all.
