ANOTHER Big change for Saudi PIF-Backed Liv Golf as it goes through 72 holes

The day after Liv Golf, a new golf program sponsored by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), announced that it is improving the ways in the league by increasing the number of figures through the international series and its promotional event. Now a big change for the 2026 season has been revealed.
Held over three days and 54 holes since its inception, the Liv Golf League will now be played over 72 holes and four days, starting with its riyadh event.
The move appears to be part of the league’s efforts to gain recognition from the Official World Golfs Rank (OWGR). If it were to be applied for, the fact that it is a 72-hole event would mean that they would receive 100 percent of the points as OWGR figures (based on player ratings and field strength). By playing 54-hole events, each tournament score would be thirty-four out of that.
Major Formatting Changes Hit Liv Golf
In 2026, all events will be played over four days, starting on the Thursday of event weeks. Liv Golf Riyadh presented by Roshn will start on Wednesday, February 4, with a Saturday finish.
