The film (the first major role of the former John Wick icon Keanu Reeves) soon received another sequel, which broke all the rules and destroyed all our expectations. The foundation of Bill & Ted’s Bogus Tour that the titular duo is mysteriously responsible for creating a future utopia, but a villain who wants to stop the group sends robot duplicates to kill our heroes in the present day. These evil bots really succeeded, plunging Bill and Ted to their deaths before these rock stars could win the Local Battle of the Bands. But these two meatheads won’t let a little thing like death keep them down, and when they enter a new chaos in the afterlife, they realize that their fake journey has only just begun.
The Sci-Fi Dream Team Returns
Bill & Ted’s Bogus Tour It has a strong cast of great actors, including George Carlin (well known outside of this franchise Doctrine) as a groovy consultant from the next day. The Grim Reaper is played with delightful perfection, by William Sadler (well known The Shawshank Redemption), while Alex Winter (best known Age) plays half of the titular cast members. The other was played by Keanu Reeves, who turned the popularity of this franchise into leading roles in masterpieces like The Matrix again John Wick.

On Rotten Tomatoes, it has a rating of 56 percent, with critics agreeing that this sequel had the same sense of humor as the first broken movie and the same cast giving the script everything they had. They simply feel that this second trip to the well-delivered restorations pales in comparison to their original wanderings in time and space.
However, the film impressed some reviewers more than others, including legendary film critic Roger Ebert. In his review, Ebert said Bill & Ted’s Bogus Tour “the kind of movie where you start snorting in spite of yourself, and end up admiring the reality that created this sly slapstick.” This is a solid take, and the movie is filled with so many hilariously stupid lines that it’s easy to forget how clever the set-up of this comedy really is.
A Stake-Raising Sequel
I’ll actually go better than late, the great Ebert and I mean it Bill & Ted’s Bogus Tour it’s the best sequel ever made in secret. It would have been insanely easy to just give us a lame first movie, with the two of us constant traveling through time and meeting a lot of historical figures. Instead, the sequel twists and turns wherever you expect it to twist, sending our boys to Heaven and Hell in sequences that advance our understanding of these characters in unexpectedly complex ways.
That helps Bill & Ted’s Bogus Tour adds exciting new characters, including both evil robots and the Grim Reaper. William Sadler is always a workhorse, and he turns his Reaper into the best kind of comic: a man who takes himself too seriously. Watching him kick ass in board games is fun, and by the end of the movie, he proves to be the last third wheel of the Wild Stallyns, a band that might just save the world.
Excellent Sequel
Bill & Ted’s Bogus Tour will appeal to sci-fi fans looking for something easy to watch, but also has undeniable mass appeal thanks to its clever writing, quick humor, and great cast. It’s the kind of movie you can put on at a party, and people can talk to each other in between conversations. But it’s also the kind of film you can watch on your own to appreciate its incredible depth, complexity, and artistry.
