Dubai RTA opens Al Ruwayyah Yard to deal with unregulated parking

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) opened the Al Ruwayyah Yard project as part of efforts to improve urban planning, support sustainability initiatives and improve the quality of life across the emirate.

The new facility is designed to preserve Dubai’s urban environment and tourism appeal by improving parking and tackling unregulated vehicle storage. It provides organized, dedicated parking for caravans, boats including jet skis, trailers and commercial vehicles, helping to reduce unplanned parking in residential areas and on road corridors.

The initiative is led by the RTA, which said the project demonstrates its commitment to improving traffic management while supporting Dubai’s position as a leading global destination for lifestyle, tourism and business.

Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of the Corporate Administrative Support Services Sector at RTA, said the project aims to deliver integrated and secure solutions for special car parking, while curbing unregulated practices that affect traffic and road safety.

“This project represents a key pillar in preventing unruly practices and maintaining the smooth flow of traffic. The yard will provide 335 dedicated parking spaces, equipped with modern infrastructure, directly involved in protecting the right-of-way, strengthening traffic safety, and improving the overall appearance of the city,” said Al Ali.

He added that the Al Ruwayyah Yard project is part of a wider series of initiatives that support sustainable urban development and the efficient use of RTA’s assets, including land in different parts of the emirate. The project also helps to address the challenges posed by unplanned and uncontrolled parking within fairways and residential areas.

“The Al Ruwayyah Yard project is part of a series of initiatives aimed at supporting sustainable urban development and the efficient use of RTA assets, including residential areas in various areas of the emirate,” he said. “It also helps address the challenges posed by unplanned and uncontrolled parking within the right-of-way and residential areas, supporting RTA’s ambitious plans to make Dubai the best city in the world to live and work in, while meeting the aspirations of residents, tourists, and visitors from around the world.”

The authority said that work is underway to study the expansion of the service to other areas across Dubai, with the aim of achieving wider coverage and ensuring that the facility is easily accessible to individuals and companies across the Emirate.

Al Ali noted that the project was initiated and managed in collaboration with a specialized company in Dubai. He said this approach demonstrates RTA’s commitment to working with the private sector and is in line with the Dubai Government’s vision to strengthen partnerships between the private and public sector in delivering key infrastructure projects, while supporting the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
