Subtle Clues In Surprise Trailers Are Driving Fans Crazy

By Chris Snellgrove | Published
Now that’s a lot Avengers: Doomsday teaser trailers have been officially released (and not, you know, just leaked online), fans have had the chance to scrutinize them for every possible clue about what will happen in the upcoming ensemble blockbuster. Recently, some of Marvel’s super sleuths discovered something surprising: some confusing numbers that may be a secret code.
Unsurprisingly, many in the fandom decided that these codes (which appear to be slightly different in most trailers) could be the Russo Brothers’ weird way of teasing big revelations about. Avengers: Doomsdaya film that is still in the making and still a mystery.
Codes Can Confuse Even Tony Stark

The original code is found in the original Doomsday trailer, showing Captain America leaving his unloved life and preparing to join the fight against Doctor Doom. Towards the end, this teaser revealed the confusing code 1e24ber02020. This may be cryptic gibberish (more on that later), but the second trailer (which features Thor praying to Odin for strength to fight his new enemy and be a good father to his daughter) has its code: 1e17ber02020.
So, what do these strange codes mean? A small group of dedicated fans has generated a number of ideas, none of which seem more similar than the other. The simplest explanation is that these codes may correspond to two days (October 17, 2020, and October 24, 2020, respectively), separated by a week; while this implies some kind of connection, no one has been able to connect these exact dates to any major events in the MCU.
Doomsday References Hidden In Comic Book?
Some fans translated the two Avengers: Doomsday codes as two different dates: January 17 and January 24. Although this does not correspond to any MCU events, the Marvel comic Doctor Doom #4 came out on the 17th; In this issue, the title character tries to clear his name (he predicted the dangers of the black hole experiment and was blamed when the experiment killed thousands), and ends up breaking into the AIM facility and fighting both Taskmaster and MODOK While. Doomsday it is unlikely that he will recreate any of these particular events, the comic it does had Doctor Doom thinking he might be redeemed to save humanity, which could point to the character’s motivation (ie, protecting the entire multiverse, just like Tony Stark wanted to protect Earth) in the upcoming Avengers movie.
There are ideas that are not so clear. Of course, given that the code in the Captain America teaser is a higher number than the Thor teaser, some think that the trailers somehow count down to something, perhaps the release of the full trailer Avengers: Doomsday. Some followers think that the codes have no real meaning at all; because the code appears only half a second before the official countdown to the film’s release, some believe it is simply intended to have a cool “snooze” style effect before the official countdown (called the “Doomsday clock”) is revealed.
Are Fans Falling For Fake Hype?
Some naive fans think that there is no real meaning in the codes but that Marvel just wants to generate hype Avengers: Doomsday. This would be like a fandom trying to puzzle out the complex clues about diversity and time travel that might be hidden in Reed Richards’ blackboard writings. Fantastic Four: First Steps. Finally, many real-world physicists stepped in and confirmed that he was writing profanity on the board, so some thought this was it. Doomsday codes may be the same nonsense that everyone learns a lot from.
Even better, some MCU die-hards have pointed out that all of this potentially wild speculation is a sign that the fandom is indeed healthy and motivated. Avengers: Doomsday. Since The end of the gameMarvel has experienced a gradual decline due to superhero fatigue…in other words, most audiences aren’t as excited about tight-and-flights movies as they used to be. The fact that many fans spend a lot of time and mental energy trying to predict what will happen in the upcoming movie can attest to that. Doomsday it will ultimately bring back the most ambitious cinematic universe ever created.
Now comes the hard part: delivering a movie that meets everyone’s expectations!
