Marvel Studios continues its decision to release different tea trailers Avengers: Doomsday before Image: Fire and Asheseffectively encouraging fans to come back each week for a new look at the MCU’s next big movie. Those fans were mostly unimpressed by the first teaser, the Captain America trailer that leaked before its official release.
Now, a Doomsday A teaser featuring the X-Men has been leaked. It did what Cap can’t do anymore: actually make fans excited about a Marvel movie.
The return of Magneto and Professor X
Like other trailers, the X-Men teaser for Avengers: Doomsday leaked before it was officially released. Like the Steve Rogers trailer, not much happens: most of the trailer just shows Magneto and Professor X playing chess. However, Magneto’s narration, along with the crowd-pleasing glimpses of Cyclops (a character audiences once found insanely ridiculous), combined to drive the Marvel fandom completely insane.
The majority of the trailer takes place in Xavier’s castle, which appears to be largely abandoned. There, we see a familiar sight: Professor X and Magneto playing chess. They are no longer enemies at all, as we see them holding hands and smiling sweetly.
Characters Like You’ve Never Seen Before
Aesthetically, the characters look a little different, with Xavier wearing a blue jacket with a red and black X-Men logo on it. As for Magneto, he looks even older than his former foe, complete with frizzy hair and a beard. This doesn’t mean you should expect Magneto to be a tired old man Avengers: Doomsdayat least, if his narrative is anything to go by.
“Death comes to us all, that’s all I know for sure,” said Magneto. “The question is whether you are willing to die, the question is who will you be when you close your eyes?”
The Cyclops Are Finally Freed
It’s a very provocative statement, but the funny words give you very little time to process his words before the final shot. There, we see Cyclops in his usual blue and yellow outfit (the one he’s famous for X-Men: The Animated Series again X-Men ’97) taking off his visor and unleashing the mother of all optic blasts into the sky. In the background, you can see the legs of a large enemy that almost looks like a Sentinel, one of the robotic enemies designed to hunt and kill mutants.
After that, we find a variation of the promise that appeared at the end of the last two words. “The X-Men will come back in Avengers: Doomsday.” Next, the trailer reiterates the movie’s release window (December 2026) and provides a countdown to when the movie will hit theaters.
Fan excitement for Avengers: Doomsday has never been higher
All in all, the fandom deservedly enjoyed this Avengers: Doomsday trailer, mainly because it sees the return of several fan-favorite X-Men from previous 20th Century Fox films. Many fans are very excited because the final shot shows Cyclops slashing like he has never done on screen before. This has given many (myself included) renewed hope that the Russo Brothers will finally do justice to an actor who has been mistreated as a one-note bag in previous films.
This Avengers: Doomsday the teaser trailer is supposed to be officially shown next week, but excited fans continue to share leaked copies faster than Marvel can take them down. In a way, this is a good problem for the MCU: fans are so excited to see the classic X-Men back on screen that they can’t wait to see their favorite characters in action again. This love could finally be enough to rescue Marvel from the ongoing problem of superhero fatigue and get audiences to enjoy another superhero movie like nothing since. The end of the game.
