The Bold and the Beautiful: Thomas Goes Out Again – Sad Departure or Goodbye This Time?

Bold and Beautiful has Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) back this week and they are all pumped up and ready to get back to work Forrester Creations. Literally, it looks like you’re being pushed back Hope for the Future. But is that just a false start?
We’ll talk about why Matt Atkinson might pop in and out as Thomas rather than return to the CBS soap for good.
Let’s get into why he might not stay and why I really worry that Matt Atkinson’s return could put an end to his exit. Bold and Beautiful.
Is Matt Atkinson’s Bold and Beautiful Return as Thomas Only Temporary?
Okay, so we just mentioned that he’s been picking up new scenes for Thomas and he might be back in time for the Christmas episodes. When Casey Kasprzyk wrote about Matt Atkinson’s return, he said he’s been back filming for a week, singular. Except when he was stalking, that was a week.
That’s enough time to film a few episodes, but that’s not the whole return. That’s the first red flag that Thomas might not be staying. In the latest preview of the Bold and Beautifulwe see Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye), Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), and Zende Forrester Dominguez (Delon de Metz) with Thomas Forrester Creations the exhibition.
And he points to the runway, saying he needs to be there. Not as a model, obviously. Although, Matt Atkinson is certainly hot enough, but how the designer puts it at the end of the show is next to the showstopper. We saw Ridge up there with Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang). We also saw Thomas up and Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) at the end of a Hope for the Future runway show.
Hope’s Reluctance in B&B: Why She Doesn’t Want Thomas Back in His Line
Yes, Steffy and Ridge are happy about this. They both want Thomas back FC. But Hope doesn’t want Thomas back on his line for a few big reasons. First, Hope doesn’t want to work with her ex-boyfriend closely, especially when he cheats on Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) and Thomas and destroys her marriage. Hope recently got married to Liam, so she doesn’t want any problems with him being happy all the time.
The second is that Hope wants to continue working with her brother Deke Sharpe (Harrison Cone). Hope for the Future, and you feel like they have something good going on. But this week, Steffy informs Hope that her personal feelings about Thomas will not factor into Steffy’s business decisions. Ridge and Steffy both want him Forrester Creations, that seemed like a hint, “Oh, okay. Thomas will be back for a while. Cool.”
Hope & Steffy at Odds and on The Bold and the Beautiful
This week, we’ll hear about Steffy wanting Thomas back in Hope’s line and how she’s ready to fire Deke to make room for Thomas. It’s easy to see why Hope (Annika Noelle) wouldn’t be comfortable working with Thomas. I’m sure Brooke will understand. Lately, though, Hope’s mom has been standing by and watching things go wrong, like Ridge putting her sister Katie Logan (Heather Tom) aside.
I can see Brooke weighing any decision Ridge makes about Thomas and where he’s assigned, especially since Brooke and Thomas dug a hatchet over the summer. Brooke doesn’t want to rock the boat because she’s so excited about Ridge’s return, and I think she’s going to let everyone else get in the way to continue her relationship.
Poor Deke. He just got out of design school and got hired there Forrester Creations. He got his dream job, and now that Thomas is back in the mix, Steffy just wants to kick Deke aside so Thomas can get his old position. So, Hope will try to argue to save Deke’s place, but it doesn’t look like she’ll sway Steffy. It sounds like his mind has made up his mind.

A Strategic Move on Bold? How Thomas’ Return Could Launch a Rival Fashion House
I wonder if the return of Thomas is just planning a big change that will consume the story of the fashion house of Katie Logan. I think Brad Bell might bring Thomas back temporarily to force a pivot, and Hope makes a big decision that sets the stage for Thomas’ permanent exit.
Another red flag in this case is that Brad Bell has shown he doesn’t want to bring Thomas back. If Brad Bell really wanted Matt Atkinson back Bold and Beautiful with a full-time contract, he would have already written Thomas into the storyline. He has no other projects that we have seen.
So, there was enough room to bring him back, even if Thomas wasn’t involved with Hope, but Brad Bell hasn’t. So, that’s why I suspect Matt Atkinson might be in and out. It’s possible that Thomas is back just to reopen the rift between Hope and Steffy and cause trouble.
Faced with working with Thomas, seeing her brother Deacon fired, and being under Steffy’s thumb, Hope might get out. Katie will need staff for her new fashion house, so I suspect Hope and Deke are leaving Forrester Creations and cross with Katie.
I think Matt Atkinson is back just so Thomas can be the catalyst to make that happen, the thing that forces his hand to change his future. Otherwise, I don’t think Hope can go FC.
Ultimate Power Play: Will Steffy’s Decision Push Hope To Leave FC?
If Themba goes with Hope for the Future, or if she ditches it and starts a new line dedicated to Katie’s fashion house, that would leave Thomas without a line again because they wouldn’t have Hope for the Future without Themba. It sounds like Steffy and Ridge’s plan was, “Yeah, we’re going to get Thomas back in Hope’s line. You’re going to be lucky to have him. It’s going to be a success. It’s going to explode like it did before.”
I could totally see the world where Steffy pushed Hope when she said, “You know what? I can’t do it and I won’t do it. I’m not going to risk my marriage.” He got out and left. Then Thomas may have to go back to Paris because he doesn’t have a line to work on, and Matt Atkinson is out again. That would also explain why Casey Kasprzyk says that Matt Atkinson only recorded for a week.
Many fans really want Thomas back, not just temporarily, but back for good. I am a fan of the character. Not the scary things he does, but a more modified version of him. But if he comes back just to cause problems and fire Themba, that stinks. It also stinks twice because it looks like they’re going to bring Steffy and Hope back to their old feud, not with Liam this time, but more. Hope for the Future and Thomas. And these two really know how to fight.
Building a New Empire: Katie’s Fashion House and the Future of Forrester Creations
This week, Katie made the decision to leave Forrester Creations because he was neglected. In accordance with B&B Spoilers, he told Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor), Ridge, and Brooke that he was very surprised that they made all these arrangements with an outside public relations firm without consulting Katie, who is the head of PR. FC.
So, when she goes back to Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) and tells him what’s going on, of course, he’s going to say, “This is a sign. Stop and do your own thing. Start your own fashion house, Katie.” Thomas’ return sets the stage for Hope to join Katie and Deke. And I’m sure Eric Forrester (John McCook) will end up in Katie’s competition as her lead designer.
And yes, Thomas could stick around and work in couture, but I feel like with all these red flags he might be leaving again. I’d hate to see Matt Atkinson go out as Thomas again, but there are all these signs that this is just Brad Bell and Matt Atkinson. We’ll know more by the end of this week.
Brad Bell used her back this summer to talk about everything about Brooke and Ridge and they got married shortly after dumping Taylor Hayes (Rebecca Budig). And since Jacqui Wood was out on maternity leave, they brought Matt Atkinson back just to bury the horse and say, “Oh, cool,” even though that didn’t make sense and it wasn’t a soap. I think they may be using him again.
