According to Sport and MD, Barcelona have cooled their interest in Alvarez. The news was reported by various outlets following the Barcelona Christmas dinner event with the media on Friday afternoon, and who used to say that the election as Karl Etta Eyng, is now chosen in Alvarez. His poor performance at the Camp Nou on Tuesday did not appeal to Barcelona’s management, and they feel that the €200m asking price is not a realistic estimate of his talents.
“I will not talk about Julian Alvarez. He plays for another team, and when we talk about him, other teams are angry,” said Dootball’s soccer director Deco after the event.

Alemany announced at the Nou camp on Tuesday that he was not aware of any interest from his employers, as reported by Sport.
“No, I have no information about him being linked to Barcelona. He is a very important player, very important to the team, and I know for a fact that he is very happy with us.”
Alvarez properties away from home
Alvarez’s performance at Camp Nou will not come as a surprise to Atletico fans, as his form has been very consistent. However, after scoring more than three months in Atletico’s trip, his last goal not in the Metropolitano came in the first game of the season from Espayol. However, Diego Simeone, Alemany and President Enrique Cerezo have been insisting that they see Alvarez as the face of the club for years to come, and there is talk he could offer a new deal at that time.
