Israel strikes Palestinian refugee camp in Lebanon, 13 killed: Officials – National

An Israeli airstrike on a Palestinian refugee camp in southern Lebanon on Tuesday killed 13 people and wounded several others, civil servants and government officials said. It was the deadliest strike in Lebanon since it ended the Israel-Hezbollah war last year.
A drone strike hit a car in the parking lot of a mosque in the El-Hilweh refugee camp on the outskirts of the coastal city of Sidon, the State News Agency said. Lebanon’s Ministry of Health said 13 people were killed and several others injured in the airstrike, without giving further details.
Hamas fighters in the area prevented journalists from reaching the scene, as ambulances rushed to evacuate the wounded and dead.
The Israeli military said it attacked the Hamas Training Compound that was used to prepare for attacks on Israel and its army. It added that Israeli forces will continue to fight Hamas wherever the group operates.
Hamas condemned the attack in a statement saying the strike hit a sports venue and denying it was a training ground.

The war ended in late November 2024 with a US commercial fire. Since then, Israel has conducted dozens of airstrikes in Lebanon, saying Hezbollah is trying to build up its capabilities.
