New troops are fighting Chinese Crypto scams that stole $9b from Americans

US Attorney Jeanine Pirro on Wednesday announced new powers that aim to pursue the Chinese criminal syncretism and the SWOuntrate institutions in Asia that refer to fraudulent investments.
Washington, DC, US Attorney Jeanine Pirro on Wednesday announced new high-level strike powers aimed at targeting organized crime in Southeast Asia targeting cryptocurrency investments.
Pirro spoke during the press conference, noting that fraudsters are targeting Americans for $9 million in 2024 alone, although experts estimate that number could be higher than crime.
Pirro said, “They’re preying on older Americans because of their loneliness,” Pirro said, adding that scammers reach out to social media platforms to make a mistake, gain the victim’s trust and move conversations to social media platforms.
Criminal groups then switch their victims from legitimate crypto platforms to fake platforms that the scammers have created, Pirro said.

“My office will not stop as these businesses are organized by innocent Chinese who take out the bank accounts of hardworking Americans. Many of them have left without the ability to return to work,” said Pirro.
The task of the strike force is to identify and charge the leaders of such Cryptocurrency Scam organizations, trace the stolen money and return it to the victims and disable US infrastructure, such as websites, used to carry out the scams.

Google’s plan begins a legal and regulatory strategy to fight international Internet fraud
Pirro said that the strike force has already seized $400 million and filed to make another $80 million that will be returned to the victims.
The Department of Finance announced at the same time sanctions against an armed group based in Burma, known as the top Democratic forces Karen Chevers in the country that is closely watching the Americans.

The Ministry of Finance also identified Trans Asia International Horop Group Thailand Company Limited, Troth Star limited and Thai national limited company and DKBA working with DKBA in the past in relation to organized institutions in China.
“Criminal networks operating out of Burma are stealing millions of dollars from hard-working Americans through online scams,” said under the Treasury Department’s Financial Conduct Authority, “said Treasury Secretary for Terrorism John K. Hurley. “These same places are human traffickers and have helped fuel a brutal civil war.”
Pirro added that companies like Meta, Microsoft and AARP have tried to work with the strike force to help Americans get clean.
