Al Hamra Golf Club is reopening after a major renovation that has transformed five holes

RAS AL Khaimah’s Al Hamra Golf Club, has renewed all 18 holes after a major renovation project that gave a new look to the back nine holes and included changes to several of the front holes.

Original Course Peter Harradine, and his team at Harradine Golf, were involved in a major project, which lasted 90 days. Remodeling has been done to increase the gaming experience while preserving the unique character.

Holes 15, 16 and 17 were redesigned, while major changes were made to holes six and eight.

At six, the landing area of the fairway is slightly to the right with an unplanned bunker that fills the shot strategy while maintaining the original feel of the hole. Eighth, there is a complex left tee of the current Tees, which gives a new angle of play from the tee.

The 15th hole now has a larger green and surrounding area, creating a more forgiving path for a long iron or hybrid shot while maintaining the hole’s signature runkering on both sides of the green.

A new tee has been installed on the 16th hole, which extends the hole to 492 yards. It also has a new green wheat green complex that is more than 40 meters wide.

The 17th hole has a slight increase in tournament play, but the strategy of this hole will change with a new bunkering on the left side of the fairway leading to the green. The increased color now shows a gradient from right to left, adding both challenge and opportunity.

Benoy Kurien, Chief Executive Officer of Al Hamra Group, said: “The renovation of Al Hamra Golf Club marks another milestone in our vision of living through time with the best of leisure facilities.

“This project shows the continued investment in creating a world-class experience that enhances the community of Al Hamra, where a unique golf course works, we get to meet the expectations of today’s golfers and tomorrow’s guests.”

Paul Booth, General Manager at Al Hamra Golf Club, added: “Our main goal has been to preserve the character and charm of Al Hamra Golf Club while introducing new design features that improve strategy, aesthetics and playability.

“Working again with Peter Harradine and his team allows us to both honor this original clothing philosophy and inform our commitment to programs of all sizes.”

Throughout the project, Al Hamra Golf Club maintained a fully operational, 18-Hole Course, allowing members and guests to continue playing a full round. The agronomy team of the course, led by the golf course superintendent dindy Macatlang, ensured 12 active holes so that members and visitors can play one of the six chemical areas twice, where the preparations continue to reopen.

The renovation ensures that the golf course takes center stage in Ras Al Khaimah. Strategically located opposite the upcoming Wynn Al Marjan Island, the UAE’s first integrated experience development set to open in 2027, Al Hamra Golf Club continues to focus on the golf experience.
