Lopez made headlines after wearing the gown to the Grammy Awards in February 2000, generating so much buzz that it led to the creation of Google Images due to the high volume of users searching for images of the gown.
Although many associate the dress with Lopez, it was actually Valletta who wore it first, walking the runway in a green convertible during Runway’s Spring Runway show in 1999.

“I think J.Lo had an amazing dress,” she told WSJ magazine in May 2021. “It’s just an amazing dress on Donatella [Versace] It is designed to last and is an iconic piece in fashion history. I don’t think it’s about who wears the best. I think we are all beautiful in our own way and each has something to offer. “
Valletta also spoke to Vogue about the Iconic Gown. He said it was a “huge iconic moment” when Lopez wore the dress and that “it’s so much better to be part of the ‘history’ that goes with the dress, before adding it first.” She later wore a shortened version of the dress on Runway in 2000.
