Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk, whose drugs are related to the loss of creating a frenzy, are working with the Trump administration to lower the price of their famous drugs to $ 149, sources familiar with the matter told the Wall Street Journal.
As part of the agreement, which will be announced as soon as Thursday, drugs will be sold through trumprx, a Run-Run initiative that is close to launching next year that will connect drug manufacturers to buy prescription drugs without insurance.
Under the deal, Medicare and Medicaid would also cover weight loss drugs, increasing the number of patients who would have access to the drug, sources told the magazine.

A spokesperson for Novo Nordisk told FOX Business that the company is “engaged in constructive discussions and the most popular drug administration,” aimed at reducing drug supply by finding other low-cost countries.

“We are always focused on improving patient access and affordability, and we will continue to work to find solutions that help people get access to the treatment they need,” said a spokesperson for the organization. Novo Nordisk did not comment on the specific agreement.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavett also declined to comment on the details of the agreement during a press conference on Tuesday, but said the President had recognized that this was a priority for the administration.

“I will not start before anything the president in any future announcements, but I will make his strong commitment to reduce drug prices in this country,” said Levift. “And you’ve heard firsthand from Secretary Kennedy and Dr. Marty McCaffrey and his entire health and human resources team about how the President has reduced the cost of drugs.”
He also said that the administration has been working “with pharmaceutical companies to do that every day.”

Both companies have already launched their own consumer-centric platforms that aim to expand patient access by limiting new barriers they face.

Novo Nordisk launched its platform, Novocarepharcy, in March, which allows patients who cannot afford the standard list price or who do not have insurance coverage for their preferred drugs Wegovy and Ozempic.
Lilly’s platform, LillyDirect, launched at the beginning of 2024, allows some consumers who are uninsured or restricted or in general to enter zepbound and monjaro directly from Eli Lilly without going through insurance.
