Beijing is creating a new national festival that links Taiwan to China’s military victory

China chose Oct. 25 as the Commemoration Day of the Return of Taiwan, a new national security that aims to strengthen Beijing’s sovereignty The island’s sovereign claim. The move was approved on Friday in Beijing during the Congress People’s Representative Committee, which adopted the decision at the end of a five-day meeting.
Beijing’s imperial message
State Media said that the movement was carried out in accordance with the Constitution “to protect the success of the Anti-Fascist war and” the Hest-International Order “and” to protect the national sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity. The festival will include nationwide commemorative activities marking the Japanese occupation of Taiwan in 1945.
Lawyers said the move emphasized China’s position that the transfer of Taiwan in the Postwar period from Japan to the Republic of China represented China’s sovereignty. Shen Chunyao, the director of the Legislative Commission of Legislative Affairs, said, “on Oct. 25, 1945, this ceremony to accept the surrender of Japan in Taiwian and Pengyu Islands to the Chinese Empire.”
