Sheikh Mohammed launched Al Maktoum archives to preserve Dubai’s heritage

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Mashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UUAI and ruler of Dubai, looked to document the cultural heritage of Dubai and the family of Dubai and the Al Maktoum family.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Mashid Al Mashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council, attended the ceremony.

The Al Maktoum Archives, which will serve as a repository of records and information about Dubai’s rulers, will be overseen by the office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid al Makweni.

The archives will house biofirs, collections, and literary works, while documenting their important historical role in transforming Dubai into today’s cultural and economic Hub. The center will also help spread the Eneryal, Aventuranerance, and business culture of Dubai’s rulers through books and media channels.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said: “The archives of Al Maktoum are national historical garments and an open book that provides insight into the history of governance in Dubai as a model of development.

“The archives of Al Maktoum will be a new pillar to strengthen our national history, and a reference for those who seek the secrets of our success and the experiences of leadership and the experiences of people who dedicate their lives to serving the country.

“The preservation of our national heritage is our duty and the privilege of those who help. The issue of the ruler is separated from the issue of his people. The leaders and people of the UAE are united in spirit.”

The launch event was attended by His Highness Sheikhin Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council; His Excellency Sheikh Ahmed BIN Saeeeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group; His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Mashid Al Maktoum, President of the National Olympic Committee; Her Highness Sheikha Latifa Bint Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Mashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Artness Authority and Pegnerness Heizh Al Maktoum, chairman of Dubai Media Incorson. Another was Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, chairman of the general office of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and other senior officials.

During the ceremony, Sheikh Mohammed attended a screening of a short documentary entitled ‘Rashid the Pound’. The event also featured a display showing the family tree of the Al Maktoum family and a collection of books and letters referring to the last homes of yesterday.

Historical portraits of past Dubai rulers from 1894 to the most recent were displayed during the event, including two rare portraits from 1994 to 1906, and the late Sheikh Buti Bin Suhail Al Maktoum, who ruled from 1906 to 1912.

Also on display were pictures of Sheikh Saed Bin Bin Maktoum al Maktoum, who ruled Dubai from 1958 to 1950, and his majesty Shemidh Mohammem ruled in 1950, and his majesty Shemi-Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid al Maktoum, The Maktoum, the revolutionary ruler of Dubai since 2006.

The archives will serve as the first reference for decision makers, researchers, academics, and others interested in the leadership of Dubai’s rulers, intellectual, political, social and administrative.

It will publish books, bulletins, and reference works on historical documents, and develop its cultural and news content to highlight the leadership experience and contributions to help the rulers of Dubai. It will provide information to investigators and an interested audience.

Historical documents of this type include official communications and records issued by the rulers of Dubai with their signatures or signs, documents on the historical events of Dubai and the Al Maktoum family, and show their achievements, and their opinions in all different fields.
