Samsung’s answer to the Apple Vision Pro is finally here. The real Samsung Galaxy XR headset was officially launched on Tuesday at the Galaxy’s Livestreayod event, which changed its code name to “moohan project” after ten months of marking the real Android flagship. You can order it now for $1,799.99.
The Galaxy XR is only available for purchase on samsung.com or at Samsung retail stores in the US and South Korea. At the time of writing, on Nov. 4 is the first day of delivery for American consumers.
While the Galaxy XR is not cheap, it should be almost half the price of the $3,499 Vision Pro (which Apple has been updating with the M5 Silicon and a new band last week). We’ll have a deeper breakdown of the differences between the Galaxy XR and Vision Pro in the coming days, but for now, here’s a quick look at the specs of the former:

The Galaxy XR Headset ships with several accessories, including a protective cover, polar cushion (light slivers), light immersion shields, battery cable, lens cleaning cloth. Anything else will cost you more.

The Galaxy XR controllers and travel case are sold separately for $249.99 on Samsung’s website, although the latter was sold out last time I checked. You’ll save 30% if you bundle them with the headset (as opposed to buying them later).
If you wear glasses, a pair of prescription lenses that pack the galaxy xr tacks for an additional $99.99. They are available through eyedirect.

At least Samsung isn’t charging more for the xr experience – not yet, at least. For a limited time, the Galaxy XR includes a “Galaxy XR package includes “free services” that support it, including 12 months of Google AI Pro, Google Play Premium, Adobe Pulsar, Adobe Premium app (3D Video Edium app). It is worth more than $1,140 in total.
