A common argument from councilors was that dollars spent on military equipment could be better spent supporting people in Portland.

But when Koin 6 News pressed for concrete examples of where Israel’s weapons are manufactured, no one responded. When koin 6 news later contacted a spokesperson for City Hall, they could not answer the question.
To be clear, Koin News News called this promise of the media organization “symbolic” because it will have to be presented as a solution or principle of the 12-member city council.
No legal action can take place outside of a public meeting without a quorum of 7 councillors. At the moment they do not have support or they call other councilors to join them.
City officials have confirmed that nothing is planned yet to bring an actual amendment or ordinance forward.
