If you are deciding between the Kindle Paterwhite or the KOBO Clara color, one thing that will not appear in your decision is the price, since both devices cost $ 159.99. The Kobo Clara Color is adfy though, and if you want a paper without ads, you’ll need to pay another $20.
So if price is no object, let’s dive into the design of each device. Here are their dimensions:
Overall, the display of the Kindle Persewwhite is one thing bigger than the Kobo Clara Colopo Color’. Also, the Paperwhite’s screen is full bezel, while the Kobo Clara has a raised bezel on the screen.
Each one has a nice warm display and a bright light, so you can turn on the light when you’re out in the sun or turn it on and warm it up in the evening. Also, both devices have a PPI resolution of 300 in black and white; The Kobo Clara’s color resolution is 150 PPI.
Each device is also waterproof, both get an IPX8 rating, which means they can be submerged in 2 meters of water up to 60 degrees for 6 minutes. Aka, they are safe to take in the bath or the beach.
The Kobo Clara Color, as its name suggests, has a color display, while the Kindle paper does not. If you want Kindle Color, you’ll have to look at colopt. This makes Clara perfect for readers of novels or comics.

The lock screens on each device are slightly different, too. When you’re inactive, Kindle Persewwhite shows random ads – unless you pay another $20 to get Ad-free. Meanwhile, the color of the Kobo Clara shows the last book you are reading, and your progress in the book.
Each has a power button, too. The paperwork is low, which is a bit annoying as it would be easy to accidentally press it, while Clara’s power button rests on the back corner of the device.
Considering all these factors, Kobo Clara is our winner here, because it has the bonus of color display. Also, its slim design makes it more comfortable to hold for a long time.
Winner: Kobo Clara Color
Kingle Paperwhite VS. Kobo Clara Color: User Experience
The user interface and experience on Clara and Popperwhite are very similar.
Most important for most e-Reader users is access to libby/excess. Kobo has high integration, as it is built into all of its devices, including the Clara color. That means any book you borrow from your library will automatically go into your Kobo.
Getting a Library E-Book onto your Kindle requires a few extra steps, as you’ll need access to the Libby app to browse books and send them to your Kindle library.
You can go to Kindle Stores and KOBO Stores for relevant e-readers. With KOBO, you can choose which book you want to buy, but to complete the purchase, you need to scan the QR code on your phone. It’s an easy process in the summer, as you can check out on your e-student in the summer.
The feature that sets Kingle apart is the goodreads integration, which allows you to link your account to your kindle.
Each device is equally accurate and easy to use, therefore, drawing.

Kindle Paperwhite vs. Kobo Clara Umbala: A learning experience

But how is it actually read on each device? Each Reader has an intuitive user interface and a responsive display as you swipe through the pages. Also, both Paperwhite and Clara allow you to customize their swipe responses to your liking.
Where the two devices differ in reading information is in the page number and progress marks. The Kindle numbers its pages as a physical book, while the Kobo has digital pages.
My editor, Miller Kern, and I each test the paperwhite with Clara and I have two different ideas about how the devices count their pages. Miller was frustrated with how Kobo held its pages, so when you’re reading with someone reading a physical copy, it’s hard to know if you’re on the same page. On the other hand, I liked knowing exactly how many digital pages he didn’t have to tap to finish a chapter or an entire book.
There I also agree that the brand has better local options. In the bottom corner of each page, you can enter what page you are on, how long you are in the chapter, and how much time is left in the book. In that regard, I agree with the Millers that the Kindle Perseite has a better reading experience.
Winner: Kindle Paperwhite
Kingle Paperwhite vs. Kobo Clara Color: Battery life
In terms of battery life, the winner is obvious. The Kindle Paperwhite burns the color of the Kobo Clara without water. The Kindle Paperwhite has a battery life of 12 weeks. I use my kingle paper regularly and need to charge it every few months.
The Kobo Clara Color claims to last 42 days based on 30 minutes of reading per day. So at least you get 6 weeks. But if you study for many hours a day, this will be much less.
Winner: Kindle Paperwhite
Kingle Paperwhite vs. Kobo Clara Color: Is Kindle unlimited or Kobo plus better?
Another thing to consider between the Kindle Paperwhite Paperwhipwwhite and the KOBO Clara color is actually not readers, but the exclusive membership offered by each product.
Kindle has unlimited Kindle, a membership that costs $11.99 per month and has four digital titles including books and magazines, as well as thousands of audiobooks. Kobo also has its own membership called KOBO Plus. It’s a little cheaper at $9.99 but has a smaller library. It has over a million eBooks and 150,000 audiobooks. However, you can pay just $7.99 per month if you want access to eBooks or audiobooks.
Kindle Unlimited is a better service, with more books available. But in addition to unlimited Kindle, there are excellent programs for Kindle readers. Amazon Prime Reading offers premium members one free book per month. Not to mention that anyone who buys from the Kindle store can enjoy Kindle rewards points. For every $1 spent at the Kindle Store, earn three points. When you hit 300 points, you will get a $3 reward.
Winner: Kindle Paperwhite
Final thoughts
Having tested both the color Kindle Persewwhite and Kobo Clara for several months, testing each device from top to bottom, our reader’s favorite is the Kindle Paperwhite.
The Kindle Paperwhite has a larger display and better battery life, meaning I think it runs faster than the Kobo. Kindles have better subscription and reward programs, and if Amazon is already integrated into your life, then Kindle will be the best reader for most people.
While I love the Kingle Paperwhite, the Kobo Clara color is still a remarkable reader. It is smaller and more comfortable to hold and it will be right for a certain type of person, and that person is someone who wants to get Amazon in their life. If you don’t have a premium membership and generally want to cut ties to Amazon, then the KOBO CLARA color will be perfect for you.
